Title: Big Willy's Trivia
Big Willy Style - February 9, 2006 08:02 AM (GMT)
These shouldn't be too hard to look up if you don't already know. I actually already knew the answer for number 1, the rest I kinda found as I went. Anyway, enjoy:
(1) Who is the oldest player to ever hit a grand slam? How old was he?
(2) What 2 teams have played the quickest double header ever in MLB histroy? What was the date? How long did the game last?
(3) Who is the shortest player ever in MLB history? How tall was he? Who did he play for?
(4) What 2 teams played in the highest scoring game in MLB history? What was the final score? What was the date?
(5) Who has struck out more times than anybody else? How many times did he strike out?
Good Luck!

I meant in a career. Your number is correct, but its not Reggie Sanders.
It is Franco, but wrong age.
Nope, there was a shorter player than that.

Correct. His name was Eddie Gaedel. He did play for the St Louis Browns, and you're right, he was 3'7".
So, the 1st part of question 1 is answered, as well as all of question 3.

Yep, its Reggie Jackson.
You're closer on Julio's age when he hit his last grand slam.
1/2 of question 1 is answered. Questions 3 and 5 are completely answered.

Correct. The Browns beat the Yankees 6-1, then 6-2 in a total of 2 hours and 7 minutes. Good job Hankaaron44. Thats all I got for now. I'll try to post some more trivia questions within the next couple of weeks.

Alright, here we go again, only its different this time. I got these questions from Baseball Digest. If you read Baseball Digest, then please don't answer. Everyone else is invited to participate. The only other rule is this: please don't research your answer. The point of this is to see what you know, not what you can find. You get 10 points for each correct answer. In about a week (or until the replies die down after one week has past), I'll post the answers as well as everybody's scores. If you score 80 or better, you are a baseball expert. If you score between 70 and 80, you are superior to the average fan. If you score between 60 and 70, you have a pretty good knowledge of baseball history. If you score between 40 and 60, you're just an average fan. If I get a good turnout, then I'll do this again when I get the next Baseball Digest issue. Well, here we go:
1.) Since 1931 when the Baseball Writers Association began voting for the league Most Valuable Player Award winners, only 11 players have won back-to-back MVP honors. Can you identify 5 of these consecutive MVP award recipiants?
2.) From 1968 through 1977, Tom Seaver won 187 regular season games in the majors. Since 1950, which pitcher totaled the most victories (205) during a stretch of 10 consecutive seasons: Jim Palmer, Warren Spahn, Steve Carlton, Gaylord Perry, Juan Marichal, or Fergie Jenkins?
3.) During last season's ALCS, the White Sox defeated the Angels 4 games to 1. Can you identify the 4 White Sox pitchers who threw complete-game victories in the ALCS?
4.) Entering the 2006 season, there have been 20 players with 500 or more career homers. Only 7 of these sluggers hold a lifetime batting average of .300 or higher. Can you identify 4 of the 7?
5.) Who was the toughest player to strike out in the majors last season (among hitters who qualified for the batting title): Juan Peirre, Jason Kendall, Luis Castillo, or David Eckstein?
6.) Last season Red Sox sluggers David Ortiz (148) and Manny Ramirez (144) combined for the 292 RBI. Who were the last teammates to drive in 290 or more runs combined in 1 season: Todd Helton/Larry Walker, Rafael Palmeiro/Juan Gonzalez, Manny Ramirez/Roberto Alomar, or Andres Gallaraga/ Dante Bichette?
7.) Since the Cy Younge Award was first presented in 1956, there have been 9 relief pitchers who have been the recipient of the league's most valuable pitcher honor. Can you identify 4 of fthe 9?
8.) Bartolo Colon won the American League Cy Young Award in 2005, becoming the second Angels' pitcher to win the honor. Who was the first Angels pitcher to capture the Cy Young Award: Frank Tanana, Nolan Ryan, Bryan Harvey, or Dean Chance?
9.) Who are the only 2 players to ever win a Rookie of the Year Award, MVP, and Gold Glove in the same season? (5 points for each correct answer)
10.) Before Alex Rodriguez hit 48 home runs for the Yankees in 2005, who was the last player to hit as many as 44 home runs in 1 season: Tino Martinez, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, or Roger Maris?
hint- For questions where you have to give a certain number of players out of a group (ex- in Question #4, you need to give me 4 of the 7 who have done it), you can list as many as you want. I'll just look to see if you have the minimum number correct you need to get the question right. When you respond, please just put the question number and your answer. Don't quote, or this will get quite lengthy. Enjoy!

I thought this was going to be " Champions Trivia " type of hard. Good thing I let Big Willy do this because it is pretty easy and it won;t take attention away from the main event.

7) Eric Gagné, Dennis Eckersley, Mark Davis and Willie Hernandez.

Don't worry about only answering a few. Go back and edit your posts to answer them all.
PS Hank, I told you it wouldn't be as tough as yours.

Eddie Gaedel was also murdered in a bar fight. Just some really unknown facts.
