hahahah good luck. Even if the Nats get first pick, I don't know that they sign him.
They might get a more signable guy
NateFizzle - August 23, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
I was hoping the Padres get Matt Bush with the number 1 pick again.
TheHugeUnit - August 23, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
Padres I'm going to bet. If the Nats get the first pick, I think they could pass on him. I bet he'll be asking for 15 million and get a record 10 million.
jaysdude09 - August 23, 2008 10:07 PM (GMT)
Who's his agent?
Imagine Peavy-Strasburg in Petco.

He doesn't have one, he has Boras as his advisor though.
Edgar For Mayor - August 24, 2008 05:20 AM (GMT)
Screw Peavy Strasburg at Petco
Felix Strasburg at SafeCo.
Yeah...thats right.
Rockshu - August 24, 2008 05:27 AM (GMT)
Mariners will cheap out if they get 1st pick.
It'll be Tim Lincecum all over again.

The Mariner's aren't cheap. What makes you believe that?
We have a 120 million dollar pay role. We threw 40 + million dollars at two bad pitchers. In fact we're going to be the first team EVER to spend 100 million and loose 100 games.
We've had Fields signed already for 2 million but we are delaying annoucement because its above slot.
The Mariners aren't cheap...I have no idea were you're getting that idea.
The Mariners would throw 10 million at Stephen easy.
As for Tim Lincecum, they didn't go for him the same reason the other teams before us didn't. Health conerns.
NateFizzle - September 2, 2008 04:07 AM (GMT)
To give an update the Nats have pulled a 7 game win streak, and the Mariners have pulled a 4 game win streak, so right now the Nats have a .5 lead over the Padres, and a 1.5 over the Mariners for worst team.

We dropped out of this race for Strasburg shortly after the previous thread that tracked the race.
Edgar For Mayor - September 14, 2008 10:09 PM (GMT)
Well, the race is almost over and I hope the Padres and Nats go on some winning streaks.
1.) Nats 93 losses
2.)Padres 92 losses
3.)Mariners 90 losses
NateFizzle - September 14, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)

Edgar For Mayor - September 19, 2008 04:49 PM (GMT)

And if 2008 wasn't bad enough for the M's.....with 5 months remaining in the '08 season, the M's knew that they were a complete disaster, and that the No. 1 draft pick was just ahead of them if they just continued. But it turns out that the Mariners also fail at failing. Way to go.
And congrats to the Nats.

Still a chance the Nats avoid him and his money demands.
TheHugeUnit - September 30, 2008 01:44 AM (GMT)
They played for the 1st pick. Only way he's not drafted by them is if he demands 20 million or gets badly hurt.

Grant Green and some other folks are making a bid for number 1.
Also, They wouldn't give Crow 4 million, and Strasburg's bonus could reach double digits. So I don't see how they would draft him.
