Title: Reyes vs. Hanley

jaysdude09 - August 16, 2008 07:25 PM (GMT)
If you were to choose one of Hanley/Reyes, and build a team around them, who would you choose? Keep in mind you cannot change their position(IE change Hanley from SS to CF).

zackboomer - August 16, 2008 07:35 PM (GMT)
Hanley, he's just having an "off" year for him right now.

milehighrox - August 16, 2008 07:42 PM (GMT)
Ramirez, easily.

SouthPawNYM - August 16, 2008 07:51 PM (GMT)
Reyes (surprise, surprise) because he's a catalyst & I feel that the only thing he doesn't have that Hanley does is power, but more than makes up for it with his defense & can stay just as consistent with the bat (in terms of avg). Really though, I don't think you can go wrong with either one...

Homer pick, Hanley. He's been in a slump for quite a while now and still hovering around .290 and was on a 40/40 pace for a while there too. He keeps having problems making simple plays on Defense though that hopefully will imrpove as he gets older.

Hanley Ramirez doesn't make errors-the ball is just afraid of him.

Lolz

Hanley all day

braveschopbraves - August 16, 2008 08:50 PM (GMT)
Reyes is the most exciting player in the majors!

Lolz

Hanley all day

lolz @ my points, my crap humor or my somewhat contradiction of my post at the end??

zackboomer - August 16, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
lol @ anyone who would choose reyes.

SouthPawNYM - August 16, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
lol @ your ignorance

Sounds like to me your taking away from Reyes, hater...

Tribe No 1 Fan - August 16, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
I'd definitely go with Hanley.

zackboomer - August 16, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
it's not ignorance, he's better

zackboomer - August 16, 2008 09:00 PM (GMT)
it's easier to improv your defence

SouthPawNYM - August 16, 2008 09:00 PM (GMT)
In a way it is ignorance because you make it like it's a lost bet with Reyes. And yes there's always room for improvement at their age, but the question is are they going to improve...

zackboomer - August 16, 2008 09:07 PM (GMT)
it's not ignorance, I'm just choosing one over the other.

SouthPawNYM - August 16, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
Yes but was it really that funny that I choose Reyes or you just lol'd for the hell of it?? Just saying...

PS- I think you deflected my last post pretty well. I'm just gonna assume you didn't have an answer. *bananadance* *bananadance*

zackboomer - August 16, 2008 09:11 PM (GMT)
what do you mean, to the "will they improve" thing? I think they both might get better, because they arn't even in their prime yet. I think Hanley could get even better.

jaysdude09 - August 16, 2008 09:11 PM (GMT)
I'm talking defense and all here.

SouthPawNYM - August 16, 2008 09:13 PM (GMT)
I mean they have room to improve, but will they?? It's a pretty straightforward question. Only time will tell, Hanley can get better, but again so can Reyes is all I'm saying...

zackboomer - August 16, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
they both can get better. hanley has a higher ceiling. ok?

SouthPawNYM - August 16, 2008 09:17 PM (GMT)
That's fine, I was just waiting for a somewhat valid argument from you. Though you say you're choosing one over the other, so was I. Your point??

hankaaron44 - August 16, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
Hanley can do everything Jose Reyes can do and hit home runs. The problem is that he plays for the Marlins who don't get any coverage on the mainstream media/

hornet_hockey - August 16, 2008 10:13 PM (GMT)
Hanley's a five tool guy with some power, Reyes only has his speed

I wouldn't put Hanley and Reyes on the same level defensively.

I also take Hanley but its more close for me than you guys.

terrorist of sports - August 16, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
I think I take reyes. its really closee though. I like Reyes on the basepath better. I like his all aroundness. He could have by the end of the year 40 doubles, 15-20 home runs, 15 triples, 60 stolen bases ansd a 300 average. I dont see hanley that balanced. and when he hits the team wins its nearly a direct correlation. he leads the league in hits too so thats a good thing. yeah hanley hits more home runsbut I think reyes is better in the club house and he's just so energeticc

milehighrox - August 16, 2008 11:17 PM (GMT)
Hanley just seems like Reyes plus 25 homers.

Quanitifiable information for sh0re

Rockshu - August 17, 2008 12:36 AM (GMT)
Hanley has heart and he hustles. Don't hate.

SouthPawNYM - August 17, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
So does Jose!!!

Bloss - August 17, 2008 01:46 AM (GMT)
Hanley is more the complete player right now so I would take him.

Reyes is like a kid out at the field playing Little League baseball. He is always having fun but has mental lapses that cost his team.
