Title: Signing deadline

TheHugeUnit - August 15, 2008 08:39 PM (GMT)
Post any deadline news here.

Orioles agreed to terms with first-round pick LHP Brian Matusz on a major league contract.

Matusz will reportedly receive $3.2 million and the MLB deal means that he'll immediately be added to the 40-man roster. His minor league options will expire after 2012, but the fourth overall pick figures to be in the majors to stay well before then. He projects as a potential No. 2 starter long term and after starring at the University of San Diego should move quickly.

Was just going post this. Love this signing. Giving up a ML deal to a college player is no big deal to me. If hes not in the majors by 2012, well, he just isn't good enough or has suffered through a lot of injuries.

The Orioles have now signed 14 of their top 15 picks.

Oh man the Orioles have a hell of a future rotation.

Now we just need some offense. Although, adding Tex (hopefully) and Wieters to the lineup next year will go a long way in improving it.

At least the Yankees landed Lassiter. Hopefully we can get Bliech too. Witht he money we saved form Cole, maybe we get Dwyer and McMahan.

Im really hoping that the O's can sign Kevin Brady. Could be an absolute steal in the 44th round. The O's have made progress in the negotiations, but chances are that he's headed to Clemson though.
