Beatin' Peavy - Can it be Sweety?

Eh, anyways, Rox tagged Peavy for 2 runs in the 2nd and have continued to scrape on by, up 6-3 with Fuentes on the mound.

It's great to come back from just a dreadful double header and play some good baseball against the Padres. Tulo thinks we've still got some life, "...we dug ourself a hole. Now we're going to have to get back out of it like we've been doing it all year. There is enough time. We're making it tough on ourself, very tough, but there's always time." I don't buy it. We're far and away a suckier team than the one that wrecked down the stretch last September all the way until we had ourselves the pennant. Grabbing Hernandez from the Twins is really a desperation move. When our former ace Francis can't even contain the Nats, we're in it deep. I bet the Monforts are teed off about having to open up their fat check books to write the Hernandez family that $1.5 million when all hope of contention has quickly slipped away. Those dollars would've been better spent on finalizing a deal with Chris Dominguez.

Retooling for 2009 may be the best way to go. I'm feeling pretty good about our chances. I'd like to see Stewart get more AB. See if we could get Iannetta the every day job, too. I've got high expectations for both of those guys.
