The Dodgers and Padres continue to have conversations about veteran starter Greg Maddux, with the two sides beginning the process of exchanging names and perhaps working toward a deal.

I like Maddux and hate the Dodgers. But Maddux deserves to win some games that most people would win and getting players for a 40+ year old is good too.

If this goes through, what do you think the odds are he wins 6 games to keep his streak going?

A lot better than with the Padres, that's for sure. But still pretty slim.

Laroche4Maddux?

Too bad the player everyone wants won't fit on your team.

Maybe Greg Maddux isn't going to wind up back with the Dodgers after all. The Dodgers and Padres have always been uncomfortable making deals with each other. And with 90 minutes left until the deadline, they've been unable to reach agreement on a trade that would send Maddux back to L.A., the only team he has told the Padres to which he would approve a deal.

One source familiar with the two clubs' discussions say the $3.3 million remaining on Maddux's salary this year is not a major issue. But the Dodgers have been unwilling to make anything beyond a modest offer as they're aware they're the only taker.

Oh well, I like Maddux, so I'm happy he'll still be a Padre.
