I think the Braves were just deflated yesterday about all the Roster moves they had to make. Hudson needs TJ, Chipper's on the DL. I think their officially into rebuilding mode. Although everyone is right, they could of gotten SO MUCH more for Mark.

The deal does suck, but the difference between the awesomeness of Kotchman and Teixeira is a lot smaller than the difference in their cost.

Kotchman's BA is really fluky. He's struck out like 22 times or something stupidly low like that, and yet he's hitting .287. Looking at his spray charts, it isn't like he just hits ground balls all the time. He's a line drive hitter who has happened to hit the ball really hard right to to the gloves of outfielders. That's just dumb luck. He is the second best defensive first baseman in baseball, and would be the best if it weren't for Albert Pujols' superhuman defensive skills.

Gah. The point is that maybe this part of the deal isn't as bad as we're making it out to be. Sure, the fact that the Braves lost so much in putting themselves in this situation is sucky, but what else were they going to get in return for two months of a Boras signed first baseman who is going to be asking for more than $20mil this winter?
