Title: Last years GM of the year?
TheHugeUnit - July 28, 2008 06:17 PM (GMT)
Did Jon Daniels win the GM of the year in 2007? I was just thinking last night about the future of that team and it was mind blwoing how they are basically set, maybe even better than the Rays. The addition of Smoak just makes them filthy. The rape of the Braves, their draft, their minor leaguers figuring it out. Its just amazing. They have some interesting chips again this year for the deadline. Laird and Blalock could net them some interesting pieces.

Well as you can see, Bavasi did a pretty good job.....
Haha but seriously, mad props to Daniels. He took a lot of heat over on the west coast for trading his top pitching prospect for Hamilton, but it worked out for him. Teams can be turned around in 2 or 3 years, I wish the Mariners would follow in suit rather than trying to make us average every year. I'd rather suck ass one year and be great in 2 more.

Daniels pulled off like, the move of the century with Atlanta. So it's hard to argue with that.
Honorable mention for Josh Byrnes in Arizona.

I like Shapiro tho. Indians have a good FO. I hope we snag Antonetti as GM soon.

Bill Bavasi was the GM of the year since he helped improve 29 teams, not 1.

| I thought Shapiro won. |
He did, but Daniels just raped him as a GM last year. Even though the Rangers were shit. Cleveland made their team through trades from like 2000 on, Rangers basically made a team that will be utterly sick in a year or two last year. As a Yankee fan I've never been afraid of a team, but I have to say im starting to feel sick when I think of the future that team has.

GM and Manager of the year of awards are usually meaningless, and should henceforth be renamed, "Front Office Employee of the Year Who Works For a Team Whose Record Improved Last Year Award."

Ramirez, Smoak, Young, Andrus, Davis, Hamilton, Borbon, Beltre, Murphy with Salty for DH, and Teagarden as the backup C.
And they can trade off Blalock, Bradley, Laird from the offensive side for some value.
Feliz, Main, Hurley, Beaven, Harrison, Diamond
And they can trade Millwood and Padilla for something
They are defintly rebuilding on the quick pace.
