TheHugeUnit - July 28, 2008 05:44 PM (GMT)
I say No, if the Red Sox want a playoff spot this year, their only choice to to keep Manny.

No chance, unless the Red Sox are throwing in the towel for this year. Without him, there is a HUGE hole in that line-up and David Ortiz will suffer from that.

I hope not. The attitude of Henry, Theo, and Francona on the situation kind of imply that he won't. It's basically the "doing whatever will get them into the playoffs" thing. Francona actually went as far as saying he'd rather have an unhappy .500 hitter in his lineup than a guy who hands out flowers to his teammates but hits .145. That's why I love you, Tito.

I don't think they would. He was an asshole when they signed him and he's an asshole now. However, he can get away with it with his bat and through the eight years he's been in Boston, the Red Sox have won two World Series titles and so I think that they'll not only keep him for this year but pick up his options.

Will Manny be traded? The question comes up every year. It just ain't going to happen.

Until it's completely done and I see Manny running around in Florida uniform...I just don't believe it.
