CINCINNATI -- Jose Reyes, a triple threat since he joined the Mets in 2003, now holds the franchise record for career triples. The fleet shortstop, who has led the team in triples in each of the last three seasons, put his career total at 63 on Sunday, when he led off the fourth inning with his 11th triple of the season.

Reyes passed Mookie Wilson on the club's all-time list with his third hit of the game against Reds starter Endison Volquez. Reyes had singled in his first two at-bats. His 44th extra-base hit of the season came in the 2,928th big league at-bat. Wilson had 4,027 at-bats during his Mets tenure. His 62nd triple came in his 3,826 Mets at-bat. Reyes' 62nd had come in his 2,873rd career at-bat.

Reyes led the Majors in triples in 2005 and '06 with 17 each season, and had 12 last year, the fourth-highest single-season total in franchise history. Lance Johnson holds the club record, established in 1996, 21.

The Astros, born the same year as the Mets, 1962, have a career triples record of 80 by Jose Cruz. Joe Morgan (63) and Roger Metzger (62) are tied, respectively, with Reyes and Wilson.
