Title: Alou out for the season

TheHugeUnit - July 10, 2008 09:48 PM (GMT)
General manager Omar Minaya said Thursday that Moises Alou has a torn left hamstring and will likely undergo season-ending surgery.

Alou injured his hamstring Wednesday while playing in a minor league rehab game on his comeback from a strained calf. Even without going under the knife he's probably done for the year. With Alou out of the picture and Ryan Church's status anything but certain, the Mets are definitely in the market for an outfielder. However, Minaya has made it very clear that the team has no interest in Barry Bonds.

Barry
Bonds
Anyone?

C101 - July 10, 2008 09:52 PM (GMT)
No team will sign bonds. Sure he might help you win games but you might lose fan support and the team chemistry will go down and he'll just bring a dark cloud over the team he goes to. I just hated the giants last year because of bonds...I didn't want any one of them to do good. Every bonds hater will hate the team that he goes to and it will not be good for the team.

win2day - July 10, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
Alou is still playing in the majors?

Mets Rule - July 10, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
I feel bad for him. Mets should bring him back as a coach or something. He could really still smash the baseball. I'm obviously not surprised anymore.

And Minaya has already said no Bonds.

Well if Church is out too, I think he might change his mind.

win2day - July 10, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
Say hello to Raul Ibanez. He's latin, he plays the OF, he's old, makes perfect sense.

And honestly, how can you not fire the medical staff over this Church thing? They cleared him to play 2 days after he had his second concussion of the season. Then played through symptoms, and put him on the DL. Then cleared him again to play while he was still having symptoms.

Concussions are bad. Look at Corey Koskie with the Brewers. He hasn't played in like 2 years because he still has after-effects of his concussion.

But the Mets are now in need of an OF, they possibly can't think Tatis/Chavez/Evans can fill 2 of their OF spots.

He's fine, he'll be playing after the all-star break.

And Win2day, seriously, stop trolling. You've been doing it since the offseason. We don't need your bashing of the Mets latin culture. Thanks. Get out.

win2day - July 11, 2008 01:46 AM (GMT)
lol, just returning the favor.

And you know even Mets fans are nuts about the Latin culture. After every loss, you get to see about 50 "Los Mets" threads on mets.com. With spanish translations for "tipping your cap".

I'd like to see a thread when I trolled the Yankees board in the half last year. Thanks.

......and yeah, you're welcome for that.

YankeeNation - July 11, 2008 01:08 PM (GMT)
It's really unfortunate for the Mets that they are an NL club. Because Alou and the OF just don't mix anymore. He should have been a DH a long time ago.

Come on...once? You know that you've trolled more then once since the end of last year.

And YankeeNation, I don't want the Mets to be an AL team, but DH would have certainly been the place for him. An American League team should have signed him back then and would now be enjoying his fantastic hitting skills.

YankeeNation - July 11, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
I wasn't implying the Mets should be an AL team, more of your last part, about how he should be a DH. He can hit, boy can he hit, when he's healthy.

I just picked one, since you wanted one. I didn't feel like going through the other posts for you.

Here's another one.

"wow.......fantastic outing"

self response

"Perez beat him though in bad outing"

Rockshu: Yankees bullpen = LOL

Thats 2 on basically page 2 of the Yankees forum, and it took like 30 seconds to find.

Now you know you trolled more than once since last season as well.

Umm...this message has been approved by Mets Rule is not trolling. At all.

"Mets will get Santana with Milled........errrr Pelfrey, Humber, and Heilman Y'allll. This deal can't even get Ervin Santana, let alone Johan. "

"Its hillarious, might as well have released him. I told MR that his value was low and much lower that what it was before, but hopefully he realizes it now."

- On Lastings Milledge deal, which I think we now won.

"If he's not, he's doing a darn good impression of being one."

- On Pelfrey being a piece of shit

"lol, and the world is flat. "

- On the mets' prospectsbeing underrated

lol, I saw you searching for that the past hour, looking at all those posts there, all the way back to January.

Did you win the Milledge deal?

All you have gotten right now is a great 2 months from one player and now he faces serious questions about his future. It looked good for 2 months, but I wouldn't call it a victory already.

"Pelfrey, Humber, Heilman" would not have gotten you Santana.

"Its hillarious, might as well have released him. I told MR that his value was low and much lower that what it was before, but hopefully he realizes it now" . Thats about Milledge. Has he become a star yet? You tell me.

On Pelfrey, he was crap for most of this year. He was one start away from being demoted for Claudio Vargas. Whats the difference in him? He's pitching more high in the zone, which makes his sinker better. It changes the eye level for the batters.

On Mets prospects: Hahah they are over-rated. Coming into the year, Wilmer Flores was ranked 4th in the system by BA. Kevin De Leon who was maybe the top IFA last year, wasn't in the Yankees top 10. Thats how much the Mets system has sucked.

Look at the crap the Twins got. Other than Gomez, they have nothing, and even Gomez is struggling.

BTW, I do love how these posts are from December and backwards.

you guys are both ridiculous...

sucks to see that alou is out... againnn...

win2day - July 12, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
And per MLBTR, the Mets ARE looking at Ibanez. Shocking.
