Thats a lot to give up for less then half the season.
TheHugeUnit - July 4, 2008 03:56 PM (GMT)
If the brewers were able to dish out the millions to resign Sheets and lock up CC, they would have a nice top of the rotation around ASB next year with CC, Sheets and Gallardo.

If this is the trade, then its a GREAT haul for the Indians. I love Escobar, and LaPorta is a monster.
There's no way Brewers lockup Sheets, maybe CC. CC-Gallardo-Parra is a pretty nice top of the rotation, and they have Jeff Suppan who isn't terrible in there as well.
Crushed Optimism - July 4, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)
God, this is why we have to shop Bedard. I can't believe that we're not yet.
Rockshu - July 4, 2008 05:55 PM (GMT)
I don't see the Brewers trading Laporta. It will most likely be Gamel+.
TheHugeUnit - July 4, 2008 07:21 PM (GMT)
Hmm seems now they just offered LaPorta and not both. Maybe the Brewers chip in a small prospect or two to get it done.
Tribe No 1 Fan - July 5, 2008 10:13 PM (GMT)
I don't know if they'll include LaPorta....
TheHugeUnit - July 6, 2008 03:09 PM (GMT)
Dodgers and Phillies are reportly also interested in CC. CC and Rollins are good friends. Lou Marson is the only real untoucable in the Phillies system as well.
jaysdude09 - July 6, 2008 04:22 PM (GMT)
Lol will Matt Kemp finally get a full time role w/Indians
TheHugeUnit - July 6, 2008 04:28 PM (GMT)
Not over Choo man.
Edit: NVM He GONE to the brewers.
win2day - July 6, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
What?
I have CC in a couple of leagues, get him pitching against the NL ASAP. And forefit his atbats, I don't want the fat guy running.
jaysdude09 - July 6, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
I guess LaPorta gets called up soon. I can't believe I stole him in the 3rd round lol
TheHugeUnit - July 6, 2008 11:19 PM (GMT)
I just was told by a reliable club source that the Brewers have a deal in place with Cleveland for left-hander C.C. Sabathia, contingent on the paperwork being done and medical records exchanged.
But believe me, folks, that's a deal. All that other stuff is formality.
All I know so far is that top prospect Matt LaPorta is in the deal. I was told two lower-level minor leaguers also are included. The Brewers refused to include another top prospect such as Alcides Escobar or Mat Gamel.
Look for Sabathia to make his debut for the Brewers Tuesday night at Miller Park against Colorado.
I'll post more details as I get them.
http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/...n-sabathia.aspx I know Taylor is in too, but they are reporting the third player is not Escobar, Gamel nor Cain.
jaysdude09 - July 6, 2008 11:29 PM (GMT)
I wonder where GAmel will play now. RF?
win2day - July 7, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah I'm hearing its not Escobar or Cain.
Could it the C prospect? Maybe then they can move V-Mart to 1st, and have LaPorta at DH/or RF.

TheHugeUnit - July 7, 2008 03:21 AM (GMT)
Matt Laporta, Zach Jackson, Rob Bryson, and Taylor Green
oh and JD win was talking about Salmone.
jaysdude09 - July 7, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
LOL Zach Jackson I remember that guy

Laporta is a nice haul for them. Him alone makes this deal better than the crap the Twins got, although Gomez has been decent.
Too bad he didn't drop, the Yankees were hoping LaPorta drop the year he got picked at # 7 when there were rumors that teams were going to pass over on him. Damn. Although we did get Brackman.

Fuck Ron Villone
win2day - July 7, 2008 04:16 AM (GMT)
Fuck Cashman for signing him back. There were some retard teams that wanted to sign him, but the fool wanted to play close to his NJ home.
TheHugeUnit - July 7, 2008 04:17 AM (GMT)
Cashman can win 10 more championships and I will NEVER forgive him for resigning him.
hankaaron44 - July 7, 2008 05:03 AM (GMT)
Raising the price for A.J. Burnett. Please keep losing Jays, we're almost at the deadline...
Tribe No 1 Fan - July 8, 2008 05:33 PM (GMT)
I wanted Escobar too....
But see 'ya, C.C. Sure didn't take him long to fit in in the Brewers clubhouse....
But around this time next year there's a good chance we could see LaPorta up with the Tribe. Our PTBNL is most likely to be Taylor Green, so we'll see if his development can continue...
