Yankees have started to stash players down in the DR. What does that mean? It means they take top talent players and hide them in their facilities and academies. This allows them to rarely be seen by other teams scouts and general scouts.. A reason DeLeon was comped to Melky Cabrera, yet being the biggest power prospect in the IFA 2007 class. It also saves them millions of dollars allowing them sign these guys without much competition.

It doesn't just stop after they sign. Team might still stash guys so that other teams won't Rule 5 them away when they don't have room on the 40 man roster for some players.
