Title: Who would you rather have?

Should be interesting to see what comes out.

does it really matter how hard they throw? what bout their breaking pitches and/or their changeup? movement on the fastball?

TheHugeUnit - June 26, 2008 02:07 PM (GMT)
you missed the most important thing about pitching when you rattled that off, control. Both controls are good, but not great. You don't need to know anything about their secondary pitches.

then if both of them have good control, probably the 16 year old. he's less likely to blow out his arm and if he goes to college im sure he'll be in a better weight lifting program than when he was in HS. but still not a very good question if we dont even know anything else besides age, how hard they throw, and control.

16 and 92. Easier to mold.

2002NLChamps - June 28, 2008 05:28 AM (GMT)
The 16 year old. It's a lot more rare to see that velocity at that low an age than 96 mph at 18 (not that that isn't rare either).

OriolesManiac88 - June 28, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
Ill take the 18 year old. He will be much closer to the bigs, and is more of the sure thing. It will be atleast 4 years for hte 16 year old to make it to the majors. a lot can happen in 4 years.

jaysdude09 - June 28, 2008 03:02 PM (GMT)
18 year old.

Rockshu - June 28, 2008 05:27 PM (GMT)
18 year old.

Crushed Optimism - June 28, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
18. I've seen too many future star pitchers get their shit blown out at a young age in the Mariners system. I'd take the closer to the bigs.

KeepTheFaith - June 29, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
Ill take the 18 year old. You can't throw too much harder than 96 anyways, so it's not like the 16 year old has a much higher ceiling, give me the sure thing.

YankeeBaseball2 - June 29, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
Ill take the 16 year old throwing 92 because that might be PK14

I'd go with the 16 year old. It's easier to correct any flaws in his mechanics and better to eliminate some of his bad habits as early as possible.

I'd definitely go with the 18 year old. I see more potential.

zackboomer - June 29, 2008 08:52 PM (GMT)
theres a 16 who throws 92?

One year I had a 15 year old on my baseball team and he could pitch 89 MPH consistantly.
