Title: Marcum to the DL
win2day - June 22, 2008 01:30 AM (GMT)
Shawn Marcum is going to go see Dr. James Andrews after feeling pain in his right elbow according to Rotoworld.
Ouch. He was doing real good this year.

Jays should trade for Bedard. He'd make it less hurtful when Burnett leaves and if Marcum has to have TJ, he'll be out for a half a year next year. Even if they aren't going for it all this year. Buy low on Bedard, stock pile for next year.

Isn't Bedard Canadian too?
Snider and who?

Damnit, there goes the most consistent pitcher this season on the team.
I hope Adam Lind can hit. He's going to be taking Marcum's spot in the lineup and with the stockpile of outfielders they have up in the majors, I don't know if he'll play LF or DH or just sit on his ass and be a bench player (my guess is as good as yours). Either way, losing pitching is not good and I have a bad feeling they're going to call up David Purcey to start in place of Marcum which is not a bad idea because if you're going to lose, you might as well throw your best pitching prospect out there because he's going to have to learn to face major league hitters sometime.

Yeah he is. Its hard to make a deal with the Jays, their 'top prospects' are 'under-preforming' but yes Snider will have to go. Jays don't even need him. He's over-hyped. When your pegged to be a DH, its kind of meh. Snider, Jackson and Cecil for Bedard. Which is sad, since thats basically all they got in their system.
Things are not looking good for the future of the Jays, Litsch is finally coming back to earth and Burnett seems to turn it on and off.

Snider will never move. The Blue Jays don't need another overpaid underperforming pitcher.
TheHugeUnit - June 22, 2008 02:19 AM (GMT)
He's Canadian. You guys would be walking around with woods if you traded for Bay and Bedard.

The guy said "rotator cuff" and "subscapularis muscle." Marcum has an elbow problem. Besides, does Jake Peavy not do the exact same thing in terms of arm action? Take a look:

Yeah really. Huge difference between sore shoulder and sore elbow. I mean, they're both bad, but that dude wasn't right in this situation.
And I would love to have Jason Bay. Most baseball "experts" agree that it won't take a top prospect (aka Snider) for Bay, so I wouldn't have any issues in acquiring Bay. Bedard probably wouldn't fit here. Unlike what most Americans think, Toronto is a huge sports market and Bedard's media blackball would get him eaten alive here.

LOL we'll give like litsch and david purcey for him, and if john ford griffin is still alive he can go too

Snider > Bedard.
If we wouldn't give Snider up for Bedard when he was coming off a dominating 2007 season, why would we possibly give him up for Bedard now that he's pitching horribly, has a sore back, and is half a year closer to free agency.

What else can you give up though? Its not like you have something down on the farm.
