I think they done ok. Better calls than last year

D.

The main reason being that one week a couple weeks ago when they blew several homerun calls which replays showed they clearly were homeruns.

These guys are supposed to be professional umpires (hint the "professional" part) and they just are not doing great.

You serious?

can't bitch at them for the HR calls, There doing the best they can with what is available to them.

Tribe No 1 Fan - June 9, 2008 01:14 AM (GMT)
So they're doing a perfect job?

Bloss - June 9, 2008 01:22 AM (GMT)
To my expectations yes.

steveox - June 9, 2008 02:02 AM (GMT)
Some games they do a poor job.But most of the games calls are correct. Fox sports guys dont see any of their telecast umps made a controversal call yet. It shows that have improved then last season. And you see fewer managers aruging. But they are improving than last season.

I'll give them a B-. Of course they're not perfect, but sometimes I find myself pulling my hair out at calls, like that Delgado HR call this year, or the call at first base just a few games ago that cost the Mets the game. Some home plate umpires are utterly inconsistant, too. But not awful, overall.

The blown homerun calls, the inconsistent strike zones, the missed calls (ie. safe/out), etc. They have done a bad job and it's obvious.

Did you watch ESPN Strike zone graph where ball crosses the plate? Some those calls are bad but at times hitters can hit the ball outta the strike zone as well. If Ball crosses the strike zone border line and ump calls it a strike thats a damn good call. but if he calls that a ball or the ball is a bit inside the strike zone then hes not an excelent home plate umpire.

F, they fail.
