So far, I got to say

Best
Royals
Pirates
Rays
Cards

Worst
Indians
Marlins
Astros
Red Sox
Mets

Mets Rule - June 6, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
Lol. Worst? It certainly wasn't the best but not even close to worst.

Well name people who had worst drafts. Keep in mind you had 3 1st rounders, inculding a middle pick and have late round, 2nd round players to show for it. You also passed up big time players even though your a large market team.

Certainly the Astros, taking Castro tenth. I'm not sure what the Athletics were doing taking Weeks so soon.

A lot of people really liked what the Mets did. If Davis has a smooth transition, he could be a real homerun threat, 30+. And Reese will go through the minors must faster then most people think, he'll probably be a .300 hitter with around 10-15 HRs. I don't think that's bad at all, especially with Reese possibly moving to catcher, were he'd have a stud arm.

A's and Astros managed to get soem steals in the later rounds. I'll give you the Astros though, but I think you should of had a great draft with three picks in the 1st round. Thats why I handicaped you.

There are teams out there that didn't get as much talent as the Mets, but you guys really blew it with how many picks you had. I mean, you should atleast get one star player like Cole, Melville, Hunt.

For all the talk about kicking aside the slot system, they didn't do anything dramatic. I'd say it was a pretty bad draft, but I didn't really expect Omar to do good.

for the worst?

yes...I realized I didn't put what I wanted there.

Giving up on J.J. Putz so fast?

TheHugeUnit - June 6, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
Red Sox can now be taken off the worst list as they grabbed Marquis and Meyer. Noway Meyer signs, but their draft got a hell of a lot better.

Whats the precentage of players drafted to players making it to the Majors?

TheHugeUnit - June 6, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
They say out of the 50 guys you draft your lucky to get one starter(picher or position player) and one to two bench players. I'd say that's good for the middle teams, but if your drafting high like the Rays, O's, Royals have been for the past 10 years or a large market team like the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers and Mets you have to get at least one star type player and two other starters at least.

JJ is onw of two things...or both.

1.) Hurt

2.) Done as a dominant closer.

Take your pick. It was a bad draft in General. We had multiple chances to draft Melville and we passed. We could have taken Dykstra or Gillipse is the first round, but we decided to take a reliever who has a hard time not walking guys, is going to have the shortest life-span of a position you can take in the first round, AND we are in last fucking place, you don't take a reliever in the first round when you have zero chance of competing for several years.

Then we take Raben which is another risky pick. He has bad bat speed, he works himself into bad counts, and he is coming off back issues.

What Lookout Landing, USSM, PI and I see: Two very flawed picks

What Bavasi and The Mariners See: A A+ college arm and a outfielder with 40 HR pop.

Mariners...bad draft

TheHugeUnit - June 6, 2008 10:44 PM (GMT)
Red Sox probably had the 4th best draft. They would probably need at least $25 million to sign their players, but they at least were brave enough to draft some of these guys.

Marlinschamps03 - June 7, 2008 12:10 AM (GMT)
Marlins were really meh for me. I like Skipworth and Galloway in the 8th but other then that I don't know about any of the other players.

Edgar For Mayor - June 7, 2008 02:12 AM (GMT)
hehe, Bad draft on our part but at least Raben went 2-4 with a double today

EDIT: and a HR
