Title: THU's Mock Draft

TheHugeUnit - June 2, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
Waiting for dinner and have a few minutes so here goes.....

1. Devil Rays - Buster Posey, they need a catcher and they'll get one
2. Pirates - Pedro Alvarez, the curse ends here. It's about time they spend some money and their new GM will do just that.
3. Royals - Tim Beckman, If Butler is able to handle 1B. Imagine a infield of Butler, Moustakas, Beckman and Gordon. Pure Flith.
4. Orioles - Brian "MS" Matusz, O's need to draft a good arm.A lefty with a 92 mph fastball is something they could pinot that No. 2 or 3 spot in their rotation for years.
5. Giants Gordon Beckman, Villa moving to 1B hurt them this draft. If they were to draft a Smoak, they're two top prospects(by far) would play the same postion. Beckman would give them a future at SS, with Omar being 50.
6. Marlins - Kyle Skipworth, Marlins are cheap bastards.
7. Reds - Aaron Crow, Yet another high end arm for them.
8. White Sox - Justin Smoak, Konkerko is slowing down. Smoak, if there is a no brainer for them.
9. Nationals - Yonder Alonso, perfect fit.
10. Astros - Shooter Hunt, A man name Shooter Hunt has to go to a Texas team. Astros need to get an arm and they will do just that.
11. Rangers - Aaron Hicks, A man name Aaron Hicks has to go to a Texas team. Rangers could use him in the outfield or pitcher. He is very fast and has a great arm. Could be their centerfielder of the future.
12. Athletics - Ethan Martin, I was going to put Christian Friedrich, but they already have a lot of arms. So I went with 3B/RHP Martin.
13. Cardinals - Christian Friedrich, Cards could use some hitting and some pitching, but I think they'll settle for Friedrich. Good lefty with some stuff.
14. Twins - Joshua Fields, mid 90s fastball. I think the Twins go for him.
15. Dodgers - Zach Coller, Dodgers seem to like this kid.
16. Brewers - Gerrit Cole, Brewers could get some use out of a pitcher like him. He is comped to JJ Putz, if he moves to the pen. He'll want a lot of money and doesn't even like to play baseball. Could be a huge gamble.
17. Blue Jays - Brett Lawrie, JP trying to earn some brownie points with the fan base by taking a Canadian.
18. Mets - Jason Castro, Mets need a catcher as their farm is bare there.
19. Cubs - Brett Wallace, Cubs could get a steal here and they'll take it.
20. Mariners - Conor Gillaspie, He could take over 3B by 2010.
21. Tigers - Ryan Perry, They see how bad it is to find RP, so they'll try growing their own.
22. Mets - Andrew Cashner, Omar fetish for RP early on in the draft will continue.
23. Padres - Casey Kelly, His curve is to good to pass up in the 23rd spot. Could trade Greene and keep him at SS. Probably would be the best move.
24. Phillies - Alex Myer, Guy has a beast frame, he's huge for a high schooler. Phillies like to draft pitchers and they'll get a nice one here.
25. Rockies - Jemile Weeks, Would be a nice fit. Also he could be the first black man in the state of Colorado.
26. Diamondbacks Tyson Ross, Lets face it they don't need hitting.
27. Twins - Dennis Raben, He is the perfect Twins pick, to their standards.
28. Yankees - Eric Hosmer, Someone has to fall.....and the Yankees will shell out the massive amounts of cash that it will take to sign the greedy kid.
29. Indians - Hewitt - ugh, so good.
30. Red Sox - Reese Havens, good hitter, won't take to much to sign either. Red Sox are known to like him, have drafted him before.

jaysdude09 - June 2, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
Hosmer won't get by the top 22 picks....

Jake Odorizzi will be in the first round, and has made a strong case for being the best prep arm heading into the draft.

Where did you think Porcello was going to go last year?

I was going to put Odorizzi to the A's but I remembered Beane doens't like the young kids.

jaysdude09 - June 2, 2008 11:12 PM (GMT)
M's or the Mets won't pass on Hosmer.

Is it just me, or does anyone else like Shooter Hunt as much as Brian Matsuz?

Mets will...they aren't going to go overslot. M's are looking to make big splashes in the IFA, I'd doubt they put 15 million in two players.

I hate Matsuz. I like Shooter Hunt. He's name is perfect for a Texas team though.

OriolesManiac88 - June 3, 2008 12:50 AM (GMT)
Orioles have plenty of pitching depth. Id say the odds are about 75-25 that they take a hitter. Im willing to bet that one of Alverez, Beckham, or Smoak will be in an Orioles uniform come Saturday

If I were GM, Id def take a hitter. The reason the odds are only 75% is because Macphail wants to stockpile arms. But we really need a hitter (preferably college).

Interesting note...Smoak and Weiters went to same high school. Batted 3-4 for the team. What a lineup that mustve been.

Uh, you wanna stop raggin on the Twins please bitch? Matt Garza/Michael Cuddyer/Joe Mauer/Glen Perkins/Justin Morneau/Ben Revere (so far) are waiting for your apology, k thx.

Ben Revere

My case in point. Dennis Raben is like a Revere.

Bo_ - June 3, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
lawlz Ben Revere is gonna win 8 AL Batting Titles son, didn't you get the memo?

jaysdude09 - June 3, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
Revere's hitting for power this year....

Don't feed him, he'll just say he'll break A-Rod homerun record.

Break it? He's gonna double it.

I'm setting the HR over/under at 1k. Place your bets now.

Bloss - June 3, 2008 05:52 PM (GMT)
Ben Revere is batting .420 in 138 ab with only 1 HR...

You can't knock the twins with there drafts, they get what they need and dont spend millions doing it.

I agree with that. I also believe Cooper is going to go 1st round. You forgot him.

Edgar For Mayor - June 3, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah and THU, Triunfel is expected to make a move to 3B, so I don't see them drafting a 3rd bagger.

LOL wow you're a fucking moron. You really think the Mets will pass on Hosmer with Delgado blowing cock and they have more then enough money?

Awful mock draft.

Mets never dish out money in the draft and multiple sources have them doing the same, unless Pedro drops. You had a chance to draft Harvey last year and didn't.

Mets Rule - June 3, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
How many articles have been printed this year saying the Omar is dishing out the money this year? Like, 5?

I think one, but that was several months ago. I've read plenty of things about it, including a Mets scout saying your not going to go overslot.

Mets Rule - June 3, 2008 10:21 PM (GMT)
That's garbage.

1. We've never had good enough picks to dish out any money since Omar
2. The Mets have said themselves that'd they'd go by talent regardless of signing bonuses. If Hosmer comes, especially if Pedro comes, there's no fucking way that they're passing. At all.

We shall see in a little under 2 days now.

Bo_ - June 3, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
Do MLB teams honestly draft based on need? Most spects are gonna take 3 years to develop, who knows how Delgado will be doing then, or if another 1B has emerged.

Mets Rule - June 3, 2008 10:46 PM (GMT)
In the Mets case? Yes. Delgado has been absolutely horrible, to the fact that we need all the future possible talent at first base. Delgado will be doing charity work and helping out at soup kitchens by then...

And besides, even if the Mets weren't drafting based on current needs, Hosmer would be the best talent there regardless.

Marlinschamps03 - June 4, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
Why you gotta call us cheap bastards?

jaysdude09 - June 4, 2008 03:50 AM (GMT)
I'll do my mock tommorow

TheHugeUnit - June 5, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
Scout.com had their draft. They say Hosmer gets taken by the Tigers. Yankees get Cole. Mets pass on Hosmer twice to get Castro and Hicks. Jays take Gillaspie.
