Russell Martin is making his first major league start at third base in Friday's game.
Bizarre. Martin makes one appearance at the position in an emergency, and all of a sudden, he's a part-time third baseman. It doesn't seem like a good idea at all. Sure, it gives his knees a break, but it's hardly anything close to a legitimate day off. It seems like that he'll wear down again if this is the way Joe Torre intends to use him.

 It would be nice for him to be able to play C/3B in FB, but what is joe thinking?
All good hitting catchers should be moved to 3B...
If Martin could play like 120 games at catcher, 20 games at 3B, and 22 off days over the course of a full season, he would be the greatest fantasy catcher of all time.
