Title: DHB Predictions

Bloss - March 27, 2008 03:42 PM (GMT)
A couple request before we start.
1. Respect peoples opinions
2. Try and keep the Profanity usage down

On Sunday when the Season starts(exluding the 2 games the A's and the Redsox play) a MOD or ADIMN can close the topic and PIN it so we can all see how we did, at the end of the season.

Olney predicted that the Yankees win the division and the red sox would be out of the playoffs in 2006, he was right. He then preicted the red sox would win the division and the Yankees the wild card in 2007, he was right. He now says the red sox will win the wild card while the Yankees win the division. So I'll say

The Rays will have their first winning season...or at least a significantly better season than their last few.

The tightest division will probably be the NL West (minus the Giants).

You can't count anyone out. The A's were there in 2006 (yeah I know, it's barely the same team). In 2006, the Tigers hadn't been in the playoffs in 19 years. ANYTHING can happen which makes it so much fun.

For the 2 of you who chose J-Up as NL ROY remember he's not eligable cause he burned it up with his callup late last season.

Crime Dog - March 28, 2008 01:31 PM (GMT)
Ah, oh well. Jay Bruce could have a decent shot at it, sort of like the Braun/Longoria deal, again. And then, there's Fukudome, who may just seal the deal from the get go.

For AL come backers, I also like J.D. Drew. He was pretty nasty in August and I think he could stretch that sort of fire out over a few more months in 2008. He'll be streaky, but his final stat line might surprise people. Another possibility would be Julio Lugo. He was so good with the Rays - no reason he can't bounce back.

No, Dusty is racist. Bruce won't get a shot in center as they have Patterson, Hopper, Dickenson and even Freel to go through before its his shot.

Oh, well, let me think then...

I thought Maybin might be a nice pick but he has been kicked all the way down to AA after hitting sub-Mendoza in ST.

There's Colby Rasmus, Geovany Soto, Jayson Nix, Clayton Kershaw, and Johnny Cueto.

I really like the Tigers this year. We all know about their offense, but their pitching staff will be enough to carry them throughout the season. Verlander is already a bonafide ace. Bonderman, when healthy, has some of the best stuff in AL. This is the year that he finally turns the corner. DTrain was a fluke and is no longer a number 1 pitcher, but he could be a very servicable number 3.

That is the making of a great 1-2-3 combo. Combine that with their offense, and I think they are favorites in Central and maybe AL.

zackboomer - March 30, 2008 08:36 PM (GMT)
You kidding? It's Verlander then....no one...

OriolesManiac88 - March 30, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
Bonderman is 28-10 with a 3.65 ERA before the All Star break over the past 3 years. One of these years he will put up those numbers throughout the whole season, and Verlander and Bonderman will be one of the better 1-2 punches in the league.

Also, DTrain is better than the 5 ERA he posted last year. Hes never going to have an ERA below 3 again, but I see no reason why he can't settle into that 3.9-4.2 ERA range. If so, that is a very servicable number 3 pitcher.

Lol Jeremy Bonderman is a beast. I like him and Verlander up there, but after that it is question marks. I can see the Tigers trading for an RP or two, probably shopping future beast Brandon Hamilton around.

Ok, we'll see this year, but he's been very inconsistant.
