Title: Another gem for Maine

Mets Rule - March 24, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)

...John Maine was all but unhittable for the road team, as he threw six innings of one-hit ball and struck out six batters. Maine kept the Orioles from even reaching scoring position and lowered his spring ERA to 1.85...

His line:

6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 Ks

He's going to be hella good this year,

Lance Cormier was 3-0 with a 1.15 ERA in 5 games in ST last year......

What's your point? Maine has prior success. It means something...

Yup, just like the Marlins and the Nats.

Ramirez, Willingham, Hermida, Jacobs, Uggla should all have an OPS near or above .800.

I'll take the O's lineup over the Marlins lineup all day. Lol Uggla will not post an OPS over .800 for a long while. I can see Ramirez, Willingham, and Hermida doing it with ease, and Jacobs if he's lucky will get it over the plateau.

Rockshu - March 25, 2008 12:22 AM (GMT)
Uggla was well over an .800 OPS as a rookie, and he still surpassed it last year while hitting .245. If he can bump his average up to .250/.260, he'll get to .800 with ease.

Uggla in 06 hit .282/.818 and in 07 he hit .245/.805. His ISO increased from .198 to .234. Dan Uggla also had Miguel Cabrera hitting behind him, who's now somewhere with Detroit signing his 8 year contract.

I doubt Uggla's power repeats, since he'll probably bat 4th in the order, or 2nd with Hermida protecting, which is a huge ass downgrade for Cabs.

And last year I watched Uggla a bit to see if he can maintain his average while hitting all those HR for fantasy purposes. He pretty much was swinging for the fences on every AB, and shit like that doesn't get you a .260 average. Ask Johnny Gomes.

And the average......Uggla had a 15.6% LD rate last year. Thats fuckin horrible, he's down there with the likes of Chris Young, Jaun Uribe, Richie Sexson, and Pedro Feliz. His LD rate wasn't that bad in 06 tho, but still below average.

And he K's at a 26.4% clip, and had a 71% contact rate last year. His K's, his HR -first mentality, his disgustingly shit LD rate, and Cabs-less lineup are gonna bring down that OPS. No way he hits 30+ again.

jaysdude09 - March 25, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
Dan Uggla is Russell Branyan with less raw power.

braveschopbraves - March 25, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
Uggla will hit .255 with 25 HRs

with an OPS at .795+

Luke Scott is a beast. His freakin name is Luke, where can you go wrong?

Marlinschamps03 - March 25, 2008 02:45 AM (GMT)
