Title: Fantasy baseball help
Description: In another league
uloseiwinhaha - March 8, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
Sorry, I'm still a noob at fantasy baseball...This is for a non-DHB league, so tell me:
Should I drop Brian McCann for Kenji Johjima? I'm not happy with McCann...I guess he had a great 2006, not as great 2007?
And secondly...I hear Pedro is hurt or something? Go ahead and call me a dumbass but I had no clue he only played 5 games last year. He says he is trying to get back to normal, he threw 56 pitches in a simulated game and said he was fine. If I do drop him, Brad Penny and Francisco Liriano are available. Drop him? I think I should...right? And take Brad Penny? Or should I wait till he gets a real spring training start and see?
BTW here's my team if anyone here is nice enough to give me suggestions...;)

no, unless you want a drop of 20 points of BA, 10 HRs, 30 RBIs, and 10 runs

Yeah, don't drop McCann for Johojima.
The rest of your squad, we can't see because we're not in the league.
Drop Pedro for Penny, I would do it, if its a redraft league.
If its a keeper or dynasty, do Liriano.

HAHAHA my bad lol.
And it looks like I'm dropping Pedro and not McCann...interesting...I'm not sure if the Braves fan is biased towards the Braves or just watches them enough to know McCann is better...I'll keep him for now, I'll see what happens.
But Johjima's average last year was 17 points and a couple runs ABOVE, not below McCann. McCann had 4 more HRs, 30ish more RBI.
Thanks for the help guys.

Wait, one more question...
Who's getting the better end of this trade...
I give McCann and Manny Ramirez to...let's call it Team X...and Team X gives me Victor Martinez and Hunter Pence.
I think Team X might be getting the better end but I really want Hunter Pence...is he really as awesome as his stats last year say he is or does anyone think it was just a fluke that he was good? Looking at his stats he looks pretty sick...and I think I'm stretching it here but he can play like he did last season, but for 150 games or even stay healthy to play the whole season he could have a better season than Manny...alright yeah that's stretching it but that's besides the point.
I know for a FACT I would take Victor Martinez over Brian McCann. So nothing you can say can change my mind there. So even if Manny is better than Pence, I guess it's still a fair trade.
I would appreciate another opinion here...thanks guys.

Pence isn't as good as he was last year, his BABIP was really high (.377).
But at this point he maybe around as good as Manny. Manny will probably have a better OBP and RBI numbers while Pence will have more SB. Other than that they seem like they will project similar.
Now there are a couple of things that could swing it either way. Manny could be in a contract year, which could mean he plays harder.
But from my viewpoint, I'd do the deal.
V-Mart is better than McCann. And since Pence and Manny are pretty much projecting the same, I'd do it. It would probably take some bad luck for you to lose that one.

Alright, thanks again man...anyone else who has anything to add, go right ahead.

I'd do it, Pence>Manny
but don't expect a big difference from McCann and Martinez, McCann played injured all year last year, there's no reason to think he won't return back to 2006 form.
