Title: Asante Samuel signs with the Eagles

Eagles signed Asante Samuel to a six-year contract. ESPN's John Clayton says it's for $54 million, with $6 million in incentives.

The key is the first three years and Samuel probably will make roughly $10 million per-year over that time. We think Samuel is only a borderline Pro Bowler, but his gambling nature matches up well with Jim Johnson's pressure defense. This could put Lito Sheppard on the open market.

Yeah I liked Samuel until I heard he wants 10/100. 6/54 or 5/47 are both much more reasonable, especially if the salary cap goes away.

he wanted 10-100 adn i laughed.. most people say he is just a system DB

Yeah he's not going to be as good in Philadelphia as he was in NE, but still, we needed someone who can make plays in the secondary.

There's already rumors that if we can't trade Sheppard in a deal for Roy Williams or Larry Fitzgerald, we'll set up a secondary that has Samuel at one corner, Sheppard at the other, with Brown moving to free safety and Dawkins moving to strong safety. That would be a great secondary.

The Patriots might lose Randy Moss too after they didn't franchise him.

YESSS I am so happy with this, hopefully they just shift Sheldon Brown to safety so they have Lito and Asante as their two corners and Dawkins and Brown as their two safeties...that's pretty sick. :P

I REALLY hope they don't trade Lito Sheppard.
