Title: My outrageous 2008 Predictions

Edgar For Mayor - February 24, 2008 04:09 AM (GMT)
We will see a 5 HR games
--Its only a matter of time. There are plenty of player capable, and I don't nessicarly seeing the last pitch being a walk, unless its a close game.

We will see the first 65 HR year in a long time.
--Ryan Howard anyone? The guy is got off to a slow start last year and still mashed out 47. He is entering his prime, and he park isn't nessicarly unfriendly to hitters.

We will see a ERA under 2 from a starting pitcher.
--Santana to a weak NL you say? Well that just spells out dominance.

The two teams partcipating in the World series will have Starting Pitching wins equalliing up to 75 wins.
--There are some teams entering the season with some really strong starting staffs. Its not to much of a stretch.

A team will see a 30+ game winning streak during the season.
--Strong starting pitching and Bullpens.

The N.L will win the All Star game.
--I hope not, but mircales happen.

more Later (i'm sick and can't think)

--

Santana will have his hands full with The Mighty Cody Ross. So I doubt the ERA will be under 5, much less 2.

zackboomer - February 24, 2008 04:19 AM (GMT)
The only one I can't see happening is 30+ game winning streak. All the other ones are fair game.

2002NLChamps - February 24, 2008 04:39 AM (GMT)
Cody Ross actually did great last year in limited time lol...And I agree with ZB, no team is going to win 30 in a row.

Rockshu - February 24, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)
None of those will happen, especially not the NL winning the ASG.

KeepTheFaith - February 24, 2008 06:42 AM (GMT)
Yeah really theres no reason to believe any of that would happen.

Rockshu speaks the truth (same with ktf)

OriolesManiac88 - February 24, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
The only one that has a chance of coming true is the NL winning the All Star game. And even that is a long shot in my opinion.

Shea It Ain't So - February 24, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
Only ones i see realistic are the National league winning the ASG and Howard or someone hitting 60+, I wouldn't be suprised if either of those happened.

Edgar For Mayor - February 24, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
...its called outrageous for a reason guys.

so you can make random outlandish statements and if one of them happens to come true then you can say that you called it, yet if they don't come true you can just say they were outrageous predictions? sounds good

Papelmate - February 24, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
Someones goin 162-0.

They could happen. But unlikely. I won't even be here during the season. So don't worry about me gloating.

Cody Ross is a beast.

RedSox9 - February 27, 2008 01:54 AM (GMT)
I'm surprised that you didn't have anyone breaking .400 avg for the season... man, there are so many people capable of that.

no not Johan... But Bedard maybe? I think he's got the best shot of getting an ERA down close to 2.00... I'm thinking more like 2.80 though

Rockshu - February 28, 2008 02:03 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Bedard is going to be incredible this year. No doubt he'll want to wait for an extension.

Crushed Optimism - February 28, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah I agree. Especially considering he's in the best pitchers park in baseball this year.

Ichiro, and Palanco are the only two I can think of though.

Polanco ? A guy who has hit above .300 3 times in 10 years is going to hit above 400? Nevermind he is 33 years old Domican.

hornet_hockey - February 29, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
How come the NL can't win an all star game? its ridiculous, 7 out of the 10 top hitters in the league are from the NL

He's become quite the littel contact hitter. Yes I think he could do it.

Who would've thought the Josh Hamilton trade would turn out well for both sides. Potential Cy Young for potential MVP.

jaysdude09 - July 19, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
Lets give some love to Justin Duchscherer who has an ERA of 1.82, 10-5 record over 16 starts. He has been far and away the best pitcher in baseball. Only guy thats close to him I would say is Doc because he goes 8 innings+ every start and has like 10 CG's this year.

According to Terry Francona, Cliff Lee is "head and shoulders" above everyone else in the American League this year. Yes, I'm bitter that Doc didn't get the start let alone the fact that he only got to pitch one inning on four days rest.

Oh and Doc has seven CG's, more than any other team in the entire league.

Bo_ - July 19, 2008 10:58 PM (GMT)
If I had a nickel for every time someone cited Halladay's CG total this season, I'd have a shitload of nickels.

How many games would have been completed? Would Bo complete the completed games by Halladay with his nickel or complete the supposed-to be complete games for complete games or would he complete them

I dunno but if he tired in the 9th the manager could call on the right hander steveox to close the game

hankaaron44 - July 20, 2008 03:41 AM (GMT)
He'd get thrown out for arguing the height of the mound before he even got to throw an official pitch.

jaysdude09 - July 20, 2008 03:45 AM (GMT)
Steveox would have to check himself for steroids before he comes into the game.

hankaaron44 - July 20, 2008 04:14 AM (GMT)
If Steve got caught, he'd claim that he thought there was a grandfather rule.

Tribe No 1 Fan - July 20, 2008 10:41 PM (GMT)
Steve's excuse would be "but steroids aren't illegal if I'm not breaking any records."
