Paul Lo Duca-C-Mets Dec. 5 - 6:15 pm et The New York Post reports that the Jays and Paul Lo Duca are close to a one-year contract.
It was reported Tuesday that the Jays had about $2.5 million to offer Lo Duca. He'd probably do better elsewhere, but he sought out the Jays and apparently would like to play in Toronto. We guess this means the Jays won't be offering John Thomson a minor league deal. Source: New York Post |
Wouldn't be a bad pickup, especially if it's only 2.5M.

He'd be good with Thipgen.

JP and Lo Duca's agent had discussions this evening but couldn't hammer out any specifics when it comes to money. It looks like Lo Duca is willing to do a 1 year deal, but he's looking for about 5M while we're offering 2.5M. I can see JP going up to about 3.5M, but probably no more considering Zaun is making 3.75M next year, and he's our #1 guy.

Lo Duca won't be getting the ABs he desires if he comes here. Too bad JP missed on Jason LaRue, who would have been a better fit.

Enjoy him, he'll be a favorite of you guys if you sign him. A leader and plays unbelievably hard. Hopefully he'll get the respect he deserves in Toronto.

Glaus is declining but at the time, that trade was pretty nice. We needed a power bat. And we got one.

In case anyone is wondering (as I was), Lo Duca threw out 19% of basesteals last season.

Yeah, but would you rather have his bat/glove combo or Fasano's? Lol

You mean just the bat? Sure, I'd like to have that on my team. He seems to be very durable and the effort he puts into what he does is comparable to that of Reed Johnson (who I think will be gone if the Jays sign Lofton).

Lo Duca doesn't have a great arm by any means, but his glove is pretty good (his RF was better than Zaunie's last year).
To be fair though, Thigpen's glove and arm blows both of them away.

I need a new least favorite Met now.. -_-

Thigpen blows them away in almost everything but there's this guy in New Hamsphire right now (can't remember his name) but he's supposed to blow all threee of them in everything. Age, bat, speed, glove, vision.....

Diaz? I'm really not sold on him...
hankaaron44 - December 6, 2007 05:45 AM (GMT)
No worries. This team spends a lot of money on players who get hurt, only to see young prospects whom they didn't expect to make the big club or didn't expect to be as good a replace, come in and explode on the scene. When Koskie got hurt, there was Hill. When Burnett got hurt, there was Janseen. When Chacin got hurt, there was McGowan. When Victor Zambrano and Tomo Ohka just sucked, there was Marcum. When Burnett got hurt this year, there was Litsch.
Now, I'm not expectng all three of Thigpen, Zaun and Lo Duca (if he signs) to get injured, but you never know.

Diaz has 0 plate discipline, and that's a turn off for me.

He will bat .300 off the bench or in your startign lineup he would be a good pick up...

I don't blame you. Plate disicipline is a main rason (and I hate this reason) why the Yankees and Red Sox hitters are so good. They just wear pitchers out.
