Title: Red Sox / Twins trade?

Rumors surfacing (although they're coming out of Boston, so take it as you will) that the Red Sox and Twins are close to a Santana for Crisp/Lester/Masterson/Lowrie swap. I personally don't believe it, because when you've got rumors of Reyes for Santana and Hughes/crap for Santana, a package from the Red Sox that doesn't include Buchholz OR Ellsbury seems retarded.

If this goes through, it will be a huge relief knowing that the Sox wouldn't have to trade away Ellsbury. I would rather trade away Lester, because Ellsbury had a tremendous year, plus he has a lot of potentinal. Plus, the Sox aren't giving him up. It really won't be a huge deal if Lester goes, because Santana is such a high- calibur pitcher.

the rumor that went along with was that the Red Sox said you can have one of Ellsbury, Buchholz and Lester and the Twins picked Lester.....

I kinda like the fact that they're holding Ellsbury back. That way if someone else pushes hard, we still have Ellsbury in the gun to close the deal if necessary.

I hope the Sox get him, cause that will mean the M's don't get stupid and go after him

lol what a dumb offer.

Lowrie aint far off from Ellsbury. Ells just gets blown up b/c of a good Sept/postseason. The Twins need a SS after trading Bartlett, and they don't have SHIT coming up through the system.

I don't know why in the name of God the Twins would pick Lester over laptop stealer though. That doesn't make sense at all.

Taking Crisp is doing the Sox a favor, but it does solve the Twins CF vacancy, and they have a pretty impressive outfield then.

Masterson is nothing the Twins don't already have in Slowey/Perkins.

Some parts make sense, but to much of it doesn't.

Laptop Stealer + Lowrie + Lars Anderson = my ideal package.

Buster Olney said that the Red Sox told the Twins that Buchholz and Ellsbury are untouchables. Olney also said that Michael Bowden may be the fourth player in the deal (instead of Masterson).

QUOTE
Red Sox pitcher Michael Bowden has been discussed as a possible fourth player, sources say, but the identity of the fourth player is in flux.

QUOTE
Red Sox prospects Clay Buchholz and Jacoby Ellsbury are considered untouchables in the Red Sox-Twins negotiations; similarly, the Yankees have indicated to others that they will not trade second baseman Robinson Cano or pitcher Joba Chamberlain.
