Why would they bring that offer down? Hughes is going to be good, but not near the type of pitcher Santana is...Melky is a 4th string OF at best and Jackson has a lot of speed but it's hit or miss...the Twins would much rather have Gomez, and if you ask me don't count the Mets out of it. The Twins love Gomez, and the Mets have some great other OF prospects, and the Twins need hitting.

When you talk trade your initial offer is always higher than what you'll probably get, its called leverage.

Its gonna take about 3 guys to get the Joahn deal done. They want Jones, Morrow and Clement from us. Why they want Clement I don't know, they have Mauer.

Sure looks like the Yanks are gonna get him, unless some team calls up and says "You can have what you want" the Yanks have the best offer on the table.
