Title: SF Giants Top 10 Prospects

2002NLChamps - November 18, 2007 07:55 AM (GMT)
My Predictions:

1. Angel Villalona -17 yr old 3B from overseas who could develop great power. Could move to 1B.
2. Brian Wilson- Future (and current) closer who has already made contributions during August and September.
3. Madison Baumgarner- #10 overall draft pick out of HS. 6'5 lefty starter that hits 95 mph.
4. Nate Schierholz- Right fielder who hits for average and has a CANNON for an arm.
5. Tim Alderson- #22 overall pick out of HS. 6'7 righty starter that hits 93 mph with great control.
6. Wendell Fairley- #29 overall pick out of HS. OF that draws comparisons to Carl Crawford.
7. Eugenio Velez- 25 year old 2B/OF with blazing speed. May hit for decent average.
8. John Bowker- Lefty OF who hits for average and power.
9.Nick Noonan- Compensation draft pick out of HS. SS with good speed and hits well for average.
10. Emmanuel Burriss- Switch hitting SS with good speed. Hits well for average.

Just missed: SP Ben Snyder, SP Nick Periera, RP Sergio Romo, SP Clayton Tanner, SS Charles Culberson.

2011 Projected Lineup:
C- Jackson Williams
1B- Travis Ishikawa
2B- Nick Noonan
SS- Kevin Frandsen
3B- Angel Villalona
LF- Rajai Davis
CF- Wendell Fairley
RF- Nate Schierholz

SP
1. Barry Zito
2. Matt Cain
3. Tim Lincecum
4. Madison Bumgarner
5. Noah Lowry

Our 2011 pitching staff looks like it could easily lead a team to the world series. Our lineup on the other hand looks like the 1962 Mets. But I can guarentee that we will be putting some $$ into free agents for our lineup.

Ba isn't going to put a 17 year old as the number oen guy when you have some other guys who are good. Baumgarner will probably be number one with Villalona number two. Wilson, who is a RP, won't be second, he might be in the middle somewhere.

Bumgarner is out of HS so he is pretty young too. Villalona has a very good chance at #1 imo. Also, back in 2005 Bobby Jenks was in the same position as Brian Wilson (RP, future closer) and was rated #1 on the White Sox prospect list. But Brian Wilson doesn't have a 100 mph fastball like Jenks so you're probably right. He should be #3 or 4.

Meh I thought Bum had some college time. They don't rate these IFA as number one a lot though unless they are 19 or older or you have a really bad farm system.
