Title: KTF Red Sox Offseason Checklist

1. Re-sign Curt Schilling for 1 year. Done
2. Re-sign Mike Lowell, preferably in the 3 year, 12-15 mil per range.
2a. See if Florida will bite on Ellsbury+ for Cabrera
2b. See if we can get A-Rod at a semi-reasonable price (30 mil or lower) at no more than 5 years
2c. See if we can get Konerko from Chicago for a deal centered around Masterson/Hansen/Bowden
3. Talk to Scott Linebrink in FA
4 (if Ellsbury is not dealt for Cabrera). Talk to Minnesota about a Crisp for Neshek deal
4a. Crisp for prospect(s)--preferably a catching prospect ready to start in '09
5. Give Ellsbury starting CF job

I wouldn't trade Ellsbury. Cabrera is a tremendous player and all, but he'll cost a ton, can be a lot of handle, and his defense is gonna force him over to first base soon.

KeepTheFaith - November 9, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
If we got Cabrera I'd move him to first base immediately. Youk is a solid defender at third.

If we could get Cabrera for Ellsbury and not too much else, I'd definitely do it.

uhhh.... no on 2A. I don't care how good Cabrera (or any other CF is, for that matter) Ellsbury has more than proved that he is ready to replace Crisp as the CF in '08.

1. Done, obviously.
2. Reasonable
2a. Unless the plus is Buchholz, no.
2b. You could probably get 30M, but hella no on 5 years.
2c. Talent wise it's close, but why would Chicago do it? They're trying to win.
3. Yeh
4. Reasonable
4a. You wouldn't get a GREAT catching spec for Crisp, especially one '09 ready.
5. Yeh

I disagree. A plus of Bowden and Ryan Kalish would definitely spark some interest.

I know he wants a lot but I figured the thought of another pay-day in the thick of his inevitable home run chase would be appealing.

How are they gonna win with that team?

Mike Lowell is God - November 9, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
Chicago was horrible last year with that great roster they had. Obviously the problem is Guillen, they need a new manager, but Ozzie signed an extension during the late part of the season. So, maybe the White Sox try and clean house.
