Title: Jayhawk Bill Bashing

Rockshu - October 31, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
It needs to stop.

Next to me (of course), he's the smartest baseball mind here. When he makes a point, he uses actual numbers and proof to backup his statements, as opposed to the usual "because I said so" argument. When he posts, his puts a lot of thought into them, as opposed to the "I agree" posts we see all the time.

You don't need to agree with everything he says, but you should atleast respect the fact that he cares enough about the subject to give a detailed response. For example, in one of my threads about being optimistic about the 2008 Blue Jays, he responded with a list of reasons why he thinks we'll struggle next year as well. I don't agree with him, but that doesn't mean I should bash his entire post and delete it. I also got in a discussion about the ability of Dustin McGowan. He gave a list of reasons why he thinks McGowan will have a 5+ ERA next year. I gave a list of reasons why I think McGowan will have a sub-4 ERA next year. We disagreed, but that's the fun of argument.

Basically, grow the fuck up people. You don't verbally assault someone because they believe something different than you, or they have a different perspective on a situation than you. That's what the Nazis did. Are you a Nazi?

mpic92 - October 31, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
I agree, it's ridiculous that people are getting upset with, and even deleting Jayhawk's posts. He may be supporting a side of an argument that you don't like, but that doesn't give anyone the right to delete it. I've never seen someone put more detail and support into their posts... if you think it's a load of crap, respond and make a good discussion out of it... disagreements about baseball are good! It provokes activity and good baseballl discussion... and we know DHB needs a lot more of that; and Jayhawk it bringing it.

KeepTheFaith - October 31, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
Who ever keeps fucking deleting his posts for no reason needs to be demoted.

YankeeBaseball2 - October 31, 2007 10:43 PM (GMT)
hes a stathead.

and no i dont have the ability to delete posts so get that out ya mind if u had it in.

No they shouldn't. I believe it was only like 2 threads or so that were deleted, unless the person completely hid it by deleting rather than trashing.

I know who the people are who have trashed the threads, and they don't need to talk about it here if they don't want to. I'm not trying to pin point fellow staff members here. It just has to stop.

YankeeBaseball2 - October 31, 2007 10:48 PM (GMT)
OMGZ IT WAS ME SRRY!

Buchholz08 - October 31, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
I also have to agree with KTF that if it happens again, then the person who did it needs to be demoted immediately.

mpic92 - October 31, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)
oeshbach, Element, THU, Iluvkm15, BCB, win2day, nath, kyy...

Yeah, those who did it out of that staff group are seriously gonna lose there jobs over this?

Don't get me wrong, I'm strongly against this deleting his threads, but we aren't going to demote people for it.

It was written in response to the Rick James/BK fight. You guys can feel free to edit it if you so desire.

While I don't keep a comprehensive private record of posts, I believe that there have been post deletions as well as thread trashings, specifically with respect to past exchanges with THU where he made some rash assertions regarding A-Rod's future with the Yankees.

Out of curiosity, why do you believe that we shouldn't be told who deleted my threads and posts? It would be one thing if they were personally insulting, but I think that we all know that they were deleted because Yankees fans got mad at the facts, not because I broke forum rules. If there's no accountability for moderators who break forum rules themselves--not demotion, just accountability--it calls into question why mere members would choose to remain here.

If it was a mod or team mod then I think he should be replaced/demoted, but if it was an Admin I don't think so.

mpic92 - October 31, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
Why don't I think they should be mentioned? Well, they can tell you if they want. I don't want to be the one who reveals them, because I have respect for them, and I don't want people personally attacking them publicly. Again, if some other admin/mod wants to tell you, they can go right ahead. I don't see the need to. I've said it won't happen again, we'll take care of it,.

mpic92 - October 31, 2007 11:59 PM (GMT)
Expanding on that:

Look, I'll take care of it with the moderators. It just doesn't need to become public. I've stated that I'm supported you on this issue, as I'm not happy with your posts being deleted. I'm not hiding anything, what do you want me to do? I will not tell you who they were; I know all of the staff members pretty well and how they operate, if someone needs to be demoted, I will take care of that.

I don't want people personally attacking me publicly, either, mpic92. Your team has been doing that--and they've used moderator powers in their attempt to do so.

The fair thing to do is to offer up the complete record of who deleted what posts and threads. Those who did it will look pretty shabby, but it's the right thing.

Anything less is unfair to the community and to me personally--and you and the team know that.

I actually do not know who deleted the individual posts. In order to find out, I would have to search each log of the moderators, and I don't believe that even lists the user whose post was deleted. All I can find is two topics of yours that were deleted. One of which, you already know of, was THU deleting that GM thread. I believe he already has released his statements regarding the reasoning behind that. The only other thread I know of that was trashed, is the "The MLB is fixed..." thread, which was done by Iluvkm15.... a fellow Sox fan. I do not know her reasoning behind that, but she's a trustworthy and smart mod, and I'm sure there was a reason for it. I don't know the content of your post in that thread, and I cannot speak for Iluvkm here, that is why I didn't want to reveal names. This is all I really can say, I don't know who the others were.

Rockshu - November 1, 2007 12:55 AM (GMT)
I brought the MLB is Fixed thread back. I read through it and found nothing wrong with it.

IMHO, YB2's posts warrant a vacation.

He also made a "You be the GM" thread in MLB GD that I didn't appreciate.

I admitted that I trashed it and I trashed it because I felt that what he posted about Yankees fans was going to cause a problem.

PS

Thanks--you almost said that you'd trashed it, and I responded with an "If you did this I disagree" post, but you never clarified.

"Cause" a problem? I think that the problem already existed. If there's a poster who's being personally abused, the absolute worst thing that a mod can do is to delete that individual's posts and threads in response to abuse.

When moderation shifts from following the rules to acting on feelings and deleting just the one side of issues following the rules, you've lost control.

Seriously, I cannot imagine your posting that if you'd read what Yankees fans and moderators have posted in response to my work.

Edit:

Perhaps, however, you missed this:

Rock I respect you right now more then ever. Whats going on towards Bill is horrible and is just an example of his this forum is coming apart at the seams.

And some of you admins can act like the staff here is all innocent, but no one is. This place is becoming worse then the MLB forums? Sure disagree. Then why is activity down? Users are leaving just like Bill is. He's moved on to a better site with fair moderators and guys that don't settle disagreements with arguments. I admit I may be being a hypocrite with that last statement, but you people should start targeting the real troublemakers on the site. Not people like Bill.

And its ridiculous how bad the hostility between the yankees and red sox fans has become. There are some ridiculous posters (YankeeDieHard) for example who worsen that exact problem. And no one does anything to fix it. Instead of trashing his garbage you throw away quality posts like Bills. So all in all, this place will not survive in the way its going right now. Don't believe me and the rest who agree with me? Fine. Prove me wrong.

This is, without a doubt, the most touching, heart-warming thread ever on DHB. Can't you just see them....all the members of the Anti-Yankees Alliance sitting in a circle, holding hands, singing Kumbaya, passionately defending the "honor" of their "abused" leader, Jayhawks Bill. Look, look at them kneeling in front of the carefully crafted wall of statistics created by their Master, while obediently putting on their blinders so as not to see any "irrelevant" statistics that conflict with his Sacred Words. Death to anyone who challenges His Holiness!!! Or at least a good banning.
