Title: Better Championship Team?
Description: 04 vs. 07

Which championship team was better? I'm gonna do a little rundown.

Catcher: In 2004 we had a younger Jason Varitek who could actually hit for the whole year, and who had some power

1B: In 04 we had sloppy Millar and Doug M. (I can't spell his last name) as a late innning replacement. This year we had Youk who played gold glove defense and hit in .290.

2B: Mark Bellhorn who had some pop vs. Rookie of the Year (he should be) Dustin Pedrioa who hit .317 and played amazing defense

SS: Nomar who was hurt and who's time was coming to an end in Boston and Orlando Cabrera who was awesome vs. Julio Lugo and his mediocre d and horrible hitting

3B: Mike Lowell vs. Bill Mueller

Left: Manny this year vs Manny in 04 who put up better numbers and who had better hair

Center: Johnny Damon vs. Coco Crisp and sometimes Ellsbury

Right: Drew vs Nixon

Bullpen: Foulke, Timlin, Embree, Myers, Leskanic, Kim, Williamson vs. Papelbon, Okajima, Timlin, Delcarmen, Lopez, Tavarez, Snyder, Gagne

Starters: Schilling, Martinez, Lowe, Wakefield, Arroyo vs. Schilling, Beckett, Matzuaka, Wakefield, Lester

My edge goes to the 07 team

Well its hard to vote against the 04 team since they broke the "curse". But this team overall is better.

Question on SP. For this year, are you talking about regular season or World Series? If latter, then Wake wasn't on the WS roster.

I'm talking in general terms for the whole year. Wake had a better season this year than he did in 04

This years team.

braveschopbraves - October 30, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
2004 (98-64):
.832 OPS
.727 OPS against

2007 (96-66):
.806 OPS
.705 OPS against

2004 had better hitting, 2007 had better pitching... I'd take 2004.

'04. They won in every category but pitching coach, 2B, 1B and bullpen.

04 probably. Although they only won the WC lol.

I know he did. I was just wondering what you were referring to.

'07 team

Mike Lowell is God - October 31, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
Catcher: 04
1B: 07
2B: 07
SS: 04
3B: 07
LF: 04
CF:04
RF:07
BP: 07
SP: hmmmm 2004 rotation... had Schill with a 3.20 ERA, Pedro at 3.90, Lowe at 5.20, Wakefield at like 4.80, and Arroyo at 4.09
2007 rotation: Beckett 3.20 ERA, Schilling 3.87, Daisuke 4.40, Wakefield 4.70, Lester 4.67
Beckett and Schill are a wash, this years Schill and Pedro are a wash, Daisuke is better than Lowe, Wakefield is the same person, and Arroyo was better than Lester. So 04 rotation is better, although we have better names on 07's rotation
