Title: Giants Offseason Thread
2002NLChamps - October 10, 2007 04:53 AM (GMT)
Here's some stuff I've picked up on so far for plans for next year's team:
-Giants will probably resign Omar Vizquel and Pedro Feliz
-Giants will probably not resign Klesko
-Giants will either replace Bonds' OF slot with Nate Schierholz, Rajai Davis or Freddie Lewis.
-Kevin Frandsen will be playing almost every day at either 2B, SS or LF.
-John Sanchez and Kevin Correia will be battling for the 5th slot in the rotation
-Brian Wilson will probably close
So our team will look something like:
C- Bengie Molina
1B- Rich Aurilia
2B- Ray Durham/Kevin Frandsen
SS- Omar Vizquel/Kevin Frandsen
3B- Pedro Feliz
LF- Randy Winn
CF- Dave Roberts/Rajai Davis
RF- Nate Schierholz
SP- Barry Zito
SP- Matt Cain
SP- Noah Lowry
SP- Tim Lincecum
SP- John Sanchez/Kevin Correia
CL- Brian Wilson
SU- Brad Hennessey
I'm going to keep posting updates in this thread

I read the Giants are going to shop Lowry in the offseason because of his recent elbow problems and weak FA pitcher pool.

Work out a trade of Matt Cain for Miguel Cabrera. That'd be nasty.

idk if we'd do that although that name has been thrown around. But with Lowry Sabean's trying to trade some of his pitching for an impact hitter although he's unlikely to trade Cain and Lincecum and can't trade Zito.

you guys need to improve your lineup. The lineup's looking somewhat same with this year, which had no success. Especially with Bonds out.

Yeah, except we're in a rebuilding mode so it doesn't really matter. We're going to have some changes though-Kevin Frandsen will likely play a lot of 2B and Rajai Davis will have a chance at CF. Maybe a trade will be made too.

Dan Ortmeier is doing great in the Arizona fall league right now, batting with a .409 average. This should strengthen the possibility of him playing 1B next year.

The Giants resigned Tyler Walker to a 1 year, $750k deal. He'll be used in a setup role.
Good signing--Walker did well last year and we need all the relief help we can get.
