Title: I hate New England
bronx.zoo - October 2, 2007 03:20 AM (GMT)
It pisses me off how much Tom Brady passes now. First, they go out & snatch up every f'n Free Agent WR on the market, then they trade for Moss, and now the team that was built on little to no passing game is a freaking K-Gun Offense.
I dunno...maybe I am just pissed that I am about to lose my fantasy game b/c Randy Moss is about to give my opponent enough to edge me. Maybe I am jealous that my Vikings have shit for WR's and shit for a passing game.
But either way, they have been caught cheating, the media has a huge 'hard on' over them, and week after week...the New England Patriots are crammed down our throats.
I swear...if I hear another ESPN editorial about the chemistry between Randy Moss & Tom Brady...I am gonna fucking puke.
Sorry Pats fans...I had to get this off my chest. Keep in mind I wear purple on Sundays & have no Lombardi trophy.

I could not have said that any better myself. It's bad enough that I have to put up with ESPN talking about "collapse this, collapse that" in baseball, then right after that, having to hear about the chemistry between those two. The way ESPN talks about those two makes you wonder "Who's the man in that relationship??"

Shit...I agree with you. I wish ESPN & their dumbshit "Experts" would stop covering the Yankees so much. These are the same morons that have called their demise in July for the past 3 seasons. The last thing I wanted to hear through 3/4 of the season was "how bad" the Yankees were & how much Peter Gammons & Steve Phillips didn't think the Yankees were going to make the post season.
As a Yankee fan, when I want to hear REAL Yankees' talk...I tune into our own Network.
But much like Baseball, all these fucking networks want to cover is Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Bill Belichek, Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, and...oh...Michael Vick torturing dogs.

Have you ever heard of Ichiro or Matt Hasselbeck, or Shaun Alexander?
By the way, the Packers have been one of the highest rated teams even when they suck, and ESPN doesn't like to show them too often. It's an east coast bias, not a ratings bias.
Seattle has been a good sports city recently.

Man, you Seattle cats are bitter about this. Not that I can say I blame you but in all fairness...when was the last time a Championship came out of Seattle?
I hate to say it...but not even franchises in Seattle want to be there anymore. Why? Because they dont make the money other franchises do. Too many empty seats at those venues. Too many empty eats b/c your teams simply dont win.
It's a "Catch 22"...every good buisnessman knows that you have to spend money to make money. But how do you spend money when you dont have a lot of it?
Unfortunitely you guys are stuck way up in the NW portion of the US & aparently the rest of the world doesnt care.

You Seattle cats? I'm in Seattle? Or a Seattle fan?
I'm a Packer fan, and if you're going to try and tell me the world doesn't care about the Packers I have plenty of statistics to show you otherwise.
New Yorkers are naive in that they actually think everyone cares about Yankees/Red Sox...But they don't. And the Packers are historically a higher rated team than the Patriots...But which one does ESPN cover more?

Try 2004?
Franchises? Try one. The Sonics. They want to move because OKLAHOMA homo's bought them. So guess what. They want to move to Oklahoma. Surprising, I know.
Seahawks don't win? Mariners didn't win? What are you watching?
Maybe if east coast media covered us, people would know this stuff
The Seahawks make a shit load of money. So I don't know.... What you're talking about.

What a bunch of whiny-ass babies. ESPN isn't your personal team network. They're gonna praise winners, they're gonna laugh at losers. And if Bronx.zoo was a Pats fan, he'd be the loudest, most obnoxious Pats fan on this board (much like he is about the Yankees). So gimme a fuckin break.
Oh yeah, ESPN should spend all night talking about how Matt Leinart sucks or Alex Smith's busted shoulder, rather than Favre's all-time passing TD record or Brady being on a roll again.
And Blindsided, the Packers are popular because they've been around since Jesus was in 3rd grade and they won the first Super Bowls. And oh yeah, the Super Bowl trophy is named after the greatest coach ever, who happened to coach the Packers.
Hahaha, I wonder how many bricks you guys would shit if they named the World Series trophy after Steinbrenner!!!
Grow up.
goredsox1211 - October 2, 2007 09:03 AM (GMT)
Yeah thats how ESPN is. They always praise the Yankees lol. I use to think its because they are in Connecticut and probably are all Yankee fans. But I never realised how much they do it with Brady cause I'm a fan of them. I always complain about them and the Yankees, but never heard people complain about them talking about the Pats.
And sportscenter is on again. This will be my 3rd time watching it since midnight hahaha. I can watch them praise Brady and Favre again lol. I'd shit 26 bricks, not 27 cause they arent getting it. :P

You say, "they're gonna praise winners", that's funny, because during the week the Cardinals won the world series they probably discussed the Yankees and Red Sox just as much as if not more than they did the Cards.
And I know why the Packers are popular...I don't know what your point was, but my point is that if it was about ratings like bronx says it is, why wouldn't they be covering the Packers more? The Packers have consistently been voted the true Amercia's team and they have more fans in the 18-26 age range than any other team. 18-26, probably the range most likely to be watching ESPN, eh?
Sure, the Packers are getting plenty of coverage now that Favre broke the record, but if that hadn't happened you wouldn't hear a peep. If the Patriots were 5-11 90% of ESPN's NFL coverage would be devoted to "What's wrong with the Pats?".
kyyankgrrl - October 2, 2007 09:28 AM (GMT)
Excellent point. The Cardinals won the World Series, but the Yankees and Red Sox still dominated news coverage. Says a lot about the power of popularity.
Love them or hate them, the Patriots have been the dominant NFL team for a few years now. So they're going to get tons of coverage from ESPN. What I want to know is, do the same people who complain about Patriots coverage also complain when it's NEGATIVE Pats coverage, like with the video scandal? No, they don't say a peep then because they're happy to see the Patriots getting bashed.
So it seems to me the complaint isn't that ESPN gives too much time to certain teams....because you guys don't mind when it's NEGATIVE coverage about those same teams.
And BTW, my bro's ex is ancient - even older than me! - and she is a HUGE Packers fan, even has a cheesehead. I have nothing against the Pack, I just get tired of people whining about too much/not enough coverage on ESPN.

i didnt say Seattle didnt have any other good players, i was saying the only reason ESPN pays any attention to Seattle is because the Sonics have Durant now. They'll be talking about him all season.
They dont talk about the Seahawks or Mariners that often
And i would assume that east coast teams bring the most ratings
Blindsided - October 2, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
Again, you assume wrong. Back when Monday Night Football only showed playoff teams, they would make an exception for the Packers because they always brought in the highest ratings.

I personally hate them being a Vikes' fan but I mentioned nothing of them...so why the hostility? Hell...nobody loves Favre more then John Madden, who just happens to be all over anything with an NFL logo."New Yorkers are naive in that they actually think everyone cares about Yankees/Red Sox...But they don't."
Really...uh...can I have a ratings check please? Yeah, give me the ratings of every Sox/Yanks game & the ratings difference during the post-season when both teams have been eliminated from play."Try 2004?"umm...well the Sonics haven't won't the NBA title since '79, the Seahawks have never won the Lombardi Trophy, & the Mariners have never won a pennant much less the WS. Oh wait...you must be talking about the Seattle Storm winning the WNBA Championship in 04. LOL I wouldnt take pride in that being the last Championship heading from Seattle."Seahawks don't win? Mariners didn't win? What are you watching?"Winning games doesn't mean shit if you can't win the big one. That's what I mean when I say: "your teams dont win". By the way, the Seahawks only win so many games b/c they play in one of the weakest Divisions in the League."And if Bronx.zoo was a Pats fan, he'd be the loudest, most obnoxious Pats fan on this board (much like he is about the Yankees)."Damn skippy...I am one annoying Viking fan...and we dont even win. Why the hell are you a Pats fan anyways KYY?
"I don't know what your point was, but my point is that if it was about ratings like bronx says it is, why wouldn't they be covering the Packers more?"Actually FOX hosts the NFC games & as you know, they are in love with Dallas. They broadcast literally, every Dallas game b/c statistics show that Dallas still has more fan spread throughout the country. But belive me...I would have rather watched GB VS MIN last week, rather than DAL VS STL here in NY.
