Title: Colorado tied for first in WC

Iluvkm15 - September 26, 2007 05:39 AM (GMT)
With the loss from the Padres and Phillies and tonights win for the Rockies vs the Dodgers, the Rockies are now tied at the top for the WC.

I hope Colorado makes it, I'd like to see how they'd do in the playoffs.

They actually weren't tied for the lead in the wild card...one game back.

Kudos to the Pods and Snakes for doing so well on the road over the weekend. Even if we don't make it into October, this has still been an awesome season. Matt Holliday might win the MVP, similarly to how Ryan Howard won it last year. Tulo and Hawpe have both emerged as bright spots in the lineup. Tulo's unassisted triple play for example. Kaz Matsui has proven to us why he was so highly touted coming over from Japan. He says that the atmosphere o'er here in Coors is more like what he was used to in the Nippon Leagues, which helped him relax and just play. Dan O'Dowd's fleecing of the Astros over the off season was a thing of beauty. J.J. has been down and out all year and we've enjoyed Willy T's graceful defense, blazing speed, and solid contact all year long. Folks said he wouldn't work for us, and that he didn't have the OBP to truly make it in the Bigs. Where are they now? Hirsh and Buchholz have also done their parts. Franklin Morales and Ubaldo Jimenez have both been called up and have had flashes of brilliance. They'll be real good in the long haul. Spilborghs has filled in really well for us as our back up outfielder. Atkins bounced back from an awful first half and is almost batting .300 now with 25 long ones. Francis has been fairly dominant, given the field he has to work with. Helton continues to earn his paycheck with his .318 batting average and leadership. Yep, all in all, a good season. And if we don't make it in this year, look out next year! We're only going to get better as our young hitters and pitchers develop.

What players from Colorado are going to arbitration/free agency? I know Kaz Matsui is going to be a FA but other than that I'm not sure.

It's all coming down to the last game of the season.....
I'm sure you guys will be glued to the TV like us Sox fans were the other night when we were all watching and waiting for the outcome of the O's/Yanks game.

C'mon Padres, lose. Lose, lose, lose. Milwaukee, you aren't in it, but you can help another small market club out. Prince, hit a bomb for me. Jeff Suppan, it's all up to you, buddy. Brett Tomko is going down! If the Pods lose, and Jimenez bests Petit and the Diamondbacks . . .

Let's see October!

nixon4prez - September 30, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
Go ROX. Beat them Pads tomorrow. I'm tired of seeing the Padres waste everybody's time in October but getting their asses handed to them.

goredsox1211 - September 30, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
Are they playing a game tommorow? I hope the Rockies win.

go rockies
should be exciting tommorrow

nixon4prez - September 30, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
Little note here: should the Rockies win tomorrow that will mean that none of the 4 NL playoff teams from 2006 will be in 2007. Which would also mean that overall the Yankees would be the only team from 2006 returning to the playoffs in 2007.

Rockshu - September 30, 2007 11:22 PM (GMT)
I would love for the Rockies to make the playoffs. The Padres have got to be one of the most boring teams to watch in baseball. I might actually watch the NLDS if the Rockies made it.

RedSox9 - September 30, 2007 11:30 PM (GMT)
Wow, Rockies are so close. I'll be rooting for them tomorrow.

Tribe No 1 Fan - September 30, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
Tomorrow will be crucial. I'm picking the Padres, though.

YankeesDieHard™ - October 1, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
Lots of people rooting for the Rox.

Go Rockies

soxfan#1 - October 1, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
The Rockies are americas underdogs this year. My NL team changes almost every year and this year its the Phils and the Rocks. I'm so happy for these guys. Good luck to them.
