| With all due respect, if Pedro Feliz returns to the Giants in 2008, he'd like a multiyear contract. Feliz was a free agent for the first time last winter and preferred a one-year deal, hoping to have a better season at the plate to raise his market value. "I'd be happy to be back," Feliz said. "If I can work that out, it wouldn't be for one (year). ... Who wouldn't" want multiple years? Is Feliz having a better season? It's pretty much the same other than making better contact. He has 67 strikeouts, down from last year's 112. Last year, he hit .244 with 22 homers, a team-high 98 RBIs and a disappointing .281 on-base percentage. This year, he's hitting .249 with 20 homers, 71 RBIs and a .287 on-base percentage. On Sunday, the third baseman hit a sixth-inning homer, giving him 20 for a fourth straight year. "He's been so consistent over the years, and he's so stable emotionally," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He's the same guy every day, just a model of consistency. And to me, he should be the Gold Glove winner." Feliz is second to Atlanta's Chipper Jones in fielding percentage among National League third basemen. Asked if he'd like Feliz back in '08, Bochy said, "Any manager is going to like Pedro Feliz." |
