I gave the complete quote. SignOnSanDiego.com said that he was joking, but that's their editorial comment...
...and even if he were joking, truth is the root of humor.
I checked YouTube, but there doesn't seem to be a clip of Brian Giles saying that. Without the actual tone and timing of presentation, it's tough to say if he was joking. I know that it's generating some mild interest in the stats community, because Brian Giles was one of the players considered most likely to have juiced.
