CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox and manager Ozzie Guillen have agreed to terms on a multiyear contract extension through the 2012 season, White Sox general manager Ken Williams announced this afternoon.

Guillen, 43, is in his fourth season as manager of the White Sox after being named to the position in November 2003. He owns a 333-297 (.529) career record at the helm and is the 11th manager in club history to surpass the 300-win plateau. Entering tonight, Guillen is just six victories shy of tying Clarence Rowland (339) for ninth place on the club's all-time managerial victory list.

Guillen, the 37th manager in franchise history, led the Sox to an 83-79 record in 2004, his first season at the helm, before managing the White Sox to a 99-63 mark and a World Series title in 2005. The 2006 White Sox went 90-72.

The 2005 White Sox went 11-1 in postseason play to give the franchise its first World Series title since 1917. That season, the Venezuelan native was named American League Manager of the Year by the BBWAA, The Sporting News and Baseball America.

Meh, it won't last. At least, not long enough to reach 2012. The players are going to have enough by the All Star Break of next season, if they are under .500 that is. He seems to praise his team when its +.500, and bash it when its under .500. This season has been disapointing for the Chi. Sox, and Guillen didn't help the cause. He went on radio shows and bashed them, told reporters that they sucked. I mean its okay to be opinionated, but his comments definitely didn't add any spark to his club.

What the hell is wrong with this franchise? Its obvious this team has great players that simply don't care. They gave up on the manager, and yet Williams give him an extension? WTF
