| Jays expand roster with Lind callup TORONTO (CP) -- Adam Lind rejoined the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday as their first September callup after big-league rosters expanded to 40 men. The outfielder, one of the club's top prospects, played in 73 games with the Blue Jays earlier this season when left-fielder Reed Johnson was sidelined by back surgery, hitting .230 with eight homers and 30 RBIs. In 46 games with triple-A Syracuse, Lind batted .299 with six homers and 28 RBIs. "He's going to play," said manager John Gibbons. "We'll find a way to get him in there." Four other players -- pitchers Joe Kennedy and Josh Banks, infielder Hector Luna and catcher Sal Fasano -- are expected to join the club Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile, Blue Jays closer B.J. Ryan started short-tossing earlier this week and will join the Blue Jays later this month in Toronto to throw in front of the training staff. Ryan underwent ligament-replacement surgery on his elbow in May. |
