It's official, the holdout is over:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...tory?id=2993035Franchise cornerback Asante Samuel, who has missed all of training camp and the first three preseason games, reported to the New England Patriots on Monday and will sign the one-year tender worth $7.79 million.

I love Asante and I am glad he ended his holdout.

I read somewhere that the Pats are gonna franchise him next offseason as well.... I really think they just like pissing him off.

Asante Samuel-DB- Patriots Jul. 15 - 11:02 pm et Profootballtalk.com disputes a report in the Boston Herald that the Patriots are close to a long-term agreement with Asante Samuel.
A source says the sides aren't even talking and the Pats already plan to use the franchise tag on Samuel in 2008. Samuel's agent says otherwise publicly. Teams have until 4PM Eastern Time on Monday to reach long-term contracts with their franchise players. |
It's a little dated, but the point is still the same.

How much money did he want?
win2day - August 28, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Why did he have to come back? They are playing with you man, go back on hold out NOW!!!!!!!!!!
Freedawk - August 28, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Their run defense is cary, and with Asante back, their whole team is still scary.
Marlinschamps03 - August 28, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
Patriots win it all this year, any one with a brain can kinda see that.

no franchising him next year:
http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr...akes_up_ground/According to a source with knowledge of the negotiations, the dreadlocked defensive back can avoid the dreaded franchise label if he plays a certain amount of snaps (likely 75 percent) or the team wins a certain number of games. It's similar to what the Chicago Bears did with linebacker Lance Briggs, who balked at signing his franchise tender until the team included an out: If Briggs plays 75 percent of Chicago's defensive snaps, he can't be franchised next season.

The patriots have no real weaknesses. They are the favorite to win the Super Bowl. Barring any huge injuries for long stretches of time, i could see a shot of us going undefeated.
