Watching the Bruins and they said Epstein is back with the Sox, they said Tom Caron told them. There will be a annoucement later.

I have a feeling Epstien will be back when Spring Training starts.

Theo returns
By Steve Silva, Boston.com Staff

The Red Sox today announced that Theo Epstein will rejoin the organization.

Principal Owner John Henry, Chairman Tom Werner, President/CEO Larry Lucchino and Epstein issued the following joint statement:

“As you know, we have spoken frequently during the last 10 weeks. We have engaged in healthy, spirited debates about what it will take over the long-term for the Red Sox to remain a great organization and, in fact, become a more effective organization in philosophy, approaches and ideals. Ironically, Theo’s departure has brought us closer together in many respects, and, thanks to these conversations, we now enjoy the bonds of a shared vision for the organization’s future that did not exist on October 31. With this vision in place, Theo will return to the Red Sox in a full-time baseball operations capacity, details of which will be announced next week.”

The Red Sox and Theo Epstein will have no further comment until next week.

That's great news, now lets see what he does next.

TheHugeUnit - January 20, 2006 12:58 AM (GMT)
I wonder if he is still getting his original GM contract money since he isn't going to be the GM

bosoxdiehard - January 20, 2006 01:05 AM (GMT)
If he's not GM, he will still be working on deals, that's what he's good at. He's a genius.

mpic92 - January 20, 2006 01:14 AM (GMT)
He'll be great to have around.

Grant77 - January 20, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
He pretty much did the Beckett trade over the phone with the co GM's so don't expect alot to change.

TheHugeUnit - January 20, 2006 02:48 PM (GMT)
the rumors about the Red Sox seeking Ken Griffey Jr. are likely false. Any team that takes on that contract with the idea of playing Griffey in center field would be making a huge mistake. Jan. 20 - 3:20 am et from rotoworld

Thanks the good Lord i would have died if Griffey went to the Red Soxs i mean there are some things you just don't do in life and going to the Red Soxs is one of them

Back to the money thing Ken Griffey is worth that much he is still one of the best players around top 10 maybe 8 *mwaha*

I'm not sure he would have treadd both Hanley and Sanchez, so it was probably Lucchino or someone else behind that trade.

mpic92 - January 20, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that trade didn't sound like something Epstein would do...

BlueJaysfan - January 20, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
Good for the Red Sox to have him back, but bad for my Jays :P

Yeah, I think Epstien may have left so the FO could od that without it landing on him.

hornet_hockey - January 20, 2006 09:36 PM (GMT)
horray, maybie we can make some real moves now

goredsox1211 - January 21, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
So what is Lucchino going to do? Is he going to stay?

BigPapi06 - January 21, 2006 03:42 PM (GMT)
I just wanted to take this opportunity to put my 2 cents into this whole deal.

I have heard several rumors to the effect that Theo may have been onboard (albeit behind the scenes) up until now. I believe the FO wanted to keep his status with the ballclub rather low-key until they had a contract agreement in hand.

mpic92 - January 21, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
maybe

I wonder what was so lacking that no other team latched onto him, in some capacity for their organization, after he left the RS.

I thought the dodgers wanted him....other than that i don't know. Its also wierd how he came back but he isn't the GM

bosoxdiehard - January 22, 2006 01:16 AM (GMT)
I saw a rumor at the RSFF that he may end up as the team President.

mpic92 - January 22, 2006 02:18 AM (GMT)
Yeah I saw that too but it probably isn't true.

mpic92 - January 22, 2006 02:19 AM (GMT)
Actually, I shouldn't say it isn't true. It has been talked about but I don't think it will happen.
