Title: People who don't honor 9/11
Matsuzaka07 - August 24, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
I absolutely hate people who don't honor 9/11 as an official holiday. I mean, I thought that the President proclaimed it an "official" holiday across the country.

Cathy, are you liberal or conservative?

I think 'holiday' is the wrong word. It's nothing to celebrate, and we don't get it off.

Exactly, nothing at all to celebrate... it was a tragic event. It's something that shall always be remembered, but I think holiday is the wrong word to describe it.

^ Point made, topic over.
We don't celebrate the whole hijacked planes thing. Maybe they do over in the east, but as far as I know, it's not a holiday anywhere in America. We just remember the day of what happened.
Rockshu - August 24, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
It's a historical date but not a holiday lmao.

My friend, never make assumptions about people in the US East because of Cathy.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that President Bush proclaimed it "Patriot Day" (Those of you who live in Massachusetts, please do not confuse this with Patriots Day, which occurs the 3rd Monday in April on which the Boston Marathon falls on)
Also, Mpic:
to answer your question, I am neither. I am actually unenrolled, which means that I vote for the candidate who I feel is the best for the office (regardless of their political party)

No reason to celbrate something as tragic as this or any type of day like it. Celebrate real holidays like Christmas/Kwanza/Hanukkah, July 4, New Years, Birthdays, etc. These days deserve rememberance though because If you were alive during a day like this you'll never forget it especially if you lost someone. Days like this can be spent praying and hoping that something like this never happens again and lets hope thats true.

Uhh guys, I hate drawing attention to myself, but as the son that lost their father that day, I can tell you that I've told so many people off when they think of it as a holiday, kinda like I did to my principal when I was in 6th grade. This ain't a holiday, so wtf are we celebrating??

No, it's not a holiday, but a day for remembrance.
Sorry to hear that about your dad, SouthPaw. :(
ConVICKted - August 26, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
It should for sure be remembered and honored but people who want it to be a day where people get off from work are nothing more than selfish assholes. and believe it or not there are people who have demanded that
PAUL KONERKO 14 - August 26, 2007 02:25 AM (GMT)
wtf matsuzaka why would we celebrate?
sorry to hear that too southpaw. My dads friend died in the building.
Iluvkm15 - August 26, 2007 02:32 AM (GMT)
I would never call it a holiday, holidays are uaually when you are celebrating something. I'm sure eventually it will become something like a day of rememberance just like Pearl Harbor.

You can thank fuckin jury duty for the reason my dad's friend and his wife aren't with us today. They were supposed to fly out to Los Angeles the day before, but he got called into jury duty, so they had to fly out that day. They were on the first plane that hit the WTC.
