| SOMETIMES you wonder if their eyes are even open when they are swinging the bat. Sometimes you'd like to see Eric Wedge get really upset and say something closer to what we are all thinking, such as ''These guys are brutal!'' Advertisement Click Here! Sometimes you want to grab a bat yourself, elbow your way into the batter's box and say to the next scheduled Indians hitter, ''take a break, Sparky, I'm pretty sure I can at least make contact against this guy.'' Sometimes you don't want to say anything at all -- which was the course of action taken last night by Tribe pitcher Fausto Carmona, for whom the Indians' so-called offense has produced a grand total of three runs in his last four starts. Carmona pitched the fifth (inning), and then a couple more, then TOOK the fifth. He left the Indians clubhouse without speaking to the media, after once again pitching good enough to win, but losing: 6-1 to the Yankees. Finally! Some rage against the lack of an offensive machine. For those scoring at home -- the Indians aren't at the ballpark. In his last three starts Carmona has a 3.00 ERA -- and a record of 0-3. You would flee too if it happened to you. The Indians these days get shut down by everyone. Old washed up starters, young up and comers. Has beens. Never weres. Pitchers they've seen before. Pitchers they've never seen. Guys who throw hard. Guys who throw soft. Guys who can barely throw at all. Doesn't matter. |
