Title: NL MVP

braveschopbraves - August 10, 2007 05:48 AM (GMT)
So if the season ended today who would be your MVP in the NL?

Mine would be Hanley Ramirez.

.972 OPS
32 SBs
63.7 VORP (best in majors)

then

2. Holliday
3. Cabrera
4. Utley
5. C. Jones

TrueYankee26 - August 10, 2007 06:02 AM (GMT)
Hanley.

giantmetfan07 - August 10, 2007 01:06 PM (GMT)
Hanley Ramirez?? Get outta here.

MVP should be the player that best helps their team reach the post season, I think. No way that a Marlin deserves it, although he is a very good player.

Jose Reyes:
83 Runs, 26 2B, 11 3B, 8 HR, 46 RBI (Leadoff), 54 SB, 308 avg.

KeepTheFaith - August 10, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Hanley is simply better than Reyes. Reyes shouldn't get it because he has better teammates.

Hanley ftw.

So if Jose Reyes replaced Ramirez on the Marlins, and Ramirez replaced Reyes on the Mets, you think the Marlins would be better than the Mets, Braves, and Phillies?

Wow, I'm liking the love for Shadez. Hanley gets my vote too. Thanks again Red Sox.

Beckett's having a good year.

Lol before the season I remember I said Hanley was going to be better than Reyes and MR laughed at me.

Marlinschamps03 - August 11, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
I know I'm just messin with you Sox fans but Hanley has happily supprised me with just how good he can hit. I know I didn't see him possibly winning the NL batting title this year. I'm glad to see Beckett and Lowell doin well. I always cheer for my favorite former Marlins on there new teams.

braveschopbraves - September 4, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't be surprised if David Wright won it....

Marlinschamps03 - September 4, 2007 03:54 AM (GMT)
God I hate David Wright.

Next One - September 4, 2007 04:19 AM (GMT)
Haaaaaaaaaaaanley.

Marlinschamps03 - September 4, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
Thats right bitch.

SouthPawNYM - September 4, 2007 12:47 PM (GMT)
No David Wright or Ryan Braun??

Plus, Jose Reyes is more likely to win a Gold Glove than MVP, he has better defense than Hanley...

steveox - September 5, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
If Bonds is Voted to win this im gonna scream!!!!

MrYankee - September 5, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
If the Brewers make the playoffs i think Prince Fielder is going to win it

if not i think Wright, Utley, or Hanley could win it as well
the only knock against Hanley is his team isnt very good

RedSoxRoxBigPapi - September 5, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
"OTHER"

jaysdude09 - September 6, 2007 12:11 AM (GMT)
If Brewers make it to the playoffs and Prince hits 45+, he'll have strong consideration. Wright might get it since there's a huge craze for him. Hanley plays in FLA so you know....not gonna get the attention. But he's been awesome.

webgem924 - September 6, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
I think Utley could win it

Graham - September 6, 2007 08:16 PM (GMT)
I think Prince might have a decent shot

TheHugeUnit - September 6, 2007 08:52 PM (GMT)
I went with Matt Holliday. :o

ConVICKted - September 9, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
It's Fielder.

Marlinschamps03 - September 9, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
Still Hanley.

ConVICKted - September 9, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
I like Hanley but how can someone on a 61-81 team be that valuable to their team? Take out Hanley and then what are they? 51-91?

put fielder on the marlins instead and they're any better?

Rockshu - September 9, 2007 03:49 AM (GMT)
If you trade Prince Fielder and JJ Hardy for Mike Jacobs and Hanley Ramirez, the Marlins get the better end of the deal.

Yeah actually, but that's not the point at all. Completely irrelevant.

The point is, how valuable can someone be to a team that isnt in contention? It's not the "best player award", it's most valuable.

So if Hanley Ramirez was on a team full of 11 year olds that have never played baseball in their life and the team finished with 60 wins you wouldn't say Ramirez was valuable even though the team finished in last place? Again obviously exaggerating....

ConVICKted - September 9, 2007 04:19 AM (GMT)
No, I wouldn't. It's just dumb. Take him off the team, and it wouldn't matter, they are still in the same place, last place. MVP should be somoene who helped make the season an at least moderate success not someone who helped make their team less of a failure.

IF the Brewers make the playoffs Prince Fielder should be MVP.

Well even I know Mike Jacobs sucks. 1B is a need position for us and if they end up moving Cabrera there then that'd help a lot but I'm still trying to figure out where we'd find a 3B then lol.

I never knew the award was called Most Valuable to his team.

Are you an idiot? What do you think the award is? Most valuable to himself? What else could he possibly be valuable to, other than his team? If the award was what you seem to think it is it would be called the "Most Outstanding Player" award.

2002NLChamps - September 10, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
Either Wright or Byrnes. We should do DHB awards like actual sports writers do where you do first place gets 3 votes, second place gets 2, third place gets 1. And add them up and see who the DHB winner of the award is.

I didn't say the award said that, I stated my opinion, which is that for a player to really be "valuable" his team should beat least somewhat successful. If a company has no success and goes out of business, but has one good employee, can you really call them "valuable"?

If the business was going to go out of business much sooner without that employee then yes.

But see...No, you really can't. If the end result is failure with or without that player, than who cares? What makes him so valuable?

The fact that he made his team better is what makes him valuable.

So if the Brewers finish 1 game out of the division then Fielder is not the MVP but if they win the division by 1 game he is?

Actually, I said an MVP should have at least moderate success. His team should at least be .500. If they are 20 gaems under, as with the Marlins, nobody is really "valuable".

If the Brewers lose the division by 5-10 games, then no, Prince does not deserve it.

Buchholz08 - September 10, 2007 09:53 PM (GMT)
Hanley Ramirez
