Oh, boy, how stupid it looks on the top! "Do you think the Mets will get Manny, will the Mets get Manny?" LOL!!!!!! :D
ronster486 - December 3, 2005 05:53 PM (GMT)
Judging by what they got already, I say yes.
win2day - December 4, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
They are going to get one or two more big names.
ctsoxfan - December 4, 2005 12:58 PM (GMT)
I say yes, there's a good chance. I know the Mets don't want to part with Milledge and Heilman, but they're going to have to offer the Sox more than Floyd.
BlueJays1 - December 4, 2005 04:28 PM (GMT)
I say no... I just have a feeling he is going to the Angles.
KillerB's - December 9, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
Although the Mets are going to be attractive because of the team they've assembled, he's already stated that he'd like to play on the west coast (New York is a bit far from Cali).
I also believe the Angels will have more to offer the Red Sox because they havn't given away many prospects in recent trades. I could be wrong and the Mets may have something else the Red Sox are eyeing, I really don't know, but I would be less suprised if he went to the Angels.

sidthekid87 - December 9, 2005 05:20 AM (GMT)
Manny is headed to either the Dodgers or the angels i dont think the Mets have a hope in hell
americanpride - December 10, 2005 03:11 PM (GMT)
they are trying there best to get him
2002NLChamps - December 10, 2005 03:45 PM (GMT)
If they get him, they'd have to trade Milledge and that probably won't happen. They'd also probably have to trade Floyd, Nady and Victor Zambrano.

am hearing now that the Mets are looking into trading for Tejada so they can flip him to the Bosox for Manny....this is just new..but to get tejada that would meen the rest of their farm im sure..
Rissa543 - December 17, 2005 05:17 PM (GMT)
Nope and I don't want Manny on the Mets.
NateFizzle - December 17, 2005 06:28 PM (GMT)
Ever heard the expression "The Buck Stops Here"
Well I think it applies to the Mets. They can't afford all these guys.
nyboricua021 - December 31, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
Minaya is in love with Manny and it is rumored that we may be apart of a 4 team trade.
metsman59 - December 31, 2005 07:28 PM (GMT)
I sure hope that they don't get Manny and Manny gets to be Manny somewhere else. We need players who play a total game. Manny is a great hitter no doubt, but he is a liability in the field and on the basepaths. He is also approaching the age where he could soon hit the wall. We already acquired a borderline aging slugger in Delgado. Let's find a good contact hitter who will give us 20+ dingers and 80-90 RBI, or just go with what we have.

I agree. His contract is another liability.
BTW, did you find this place through the link on civility?

amen. the mets don't need manny. the guy is an below average fielder at best, and he makes way too much money. plus they would need to give up way to much to get him. it dosn't seem worth it to me. although i would love to see him in the national league away from my yanks.
TheHugeUnit - January 13, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
No since the Red Soxs aren't going to trade him
sheff#11 - January 15, 2006 07:27 PM (GMT)
i would like to say yes because im a yankee fan and thats one less big batter for the red sox but i think he will stay in boston this season
RedSoxfan#9 - January 21, 2006 06:58 PM (GMT)
no I doubt manny will be traded to the mets but if manny does get traded I think It would be during the season but I dont think he will go to the mets
mpic92 - January 21, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
I don't think Manny is going to get traded at all. Maybe he could be traded to Mets around the trading deadline...
joshfig21 - January 26, 2006 08:26 PM (GMT)
noo mannys staying in boston
seabeachfred - February 8, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
No, you are not going to get our Manny Ramirez-----unless you want to give us David Wright, so forget it. BTW, the Mets are still my NL Team, though a very distant second to the Boston Red Sox. Yes, I will still catch the Mets when they come out here to LA this summer and hope to take a trip to New York and catch them there. *mwaha* ;) :D
seabeachfred - February 8, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
Hey Red Sox Fan #9, boy, we Sox fans are all over the place. No keeping us down, that's for sure. *bananadance* :) *bday* *duff* *beer*
ThomasTomasz - February 8, 2006 10:02 PM (GMT)
Hasn't Manny said the reason he doesn't like Boston is the lack of privacy? If he did say that, and I'm fairly certain he did, then why would Ramirez want to go to New York? Even though the Mets are the Yankees stepchildren, the Mets still have one of the largest media followings. With full veto powers over trades, why would Ramirez go to a place like New York, where he would have less privacy.
seabeachfred - February 9, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
Thomas, if you knew Manny as we know him you wouldn't have to ask that question. The reason is simple. MANNY DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE WANTS. We thought it might be because the Mets are now a heavily Latin team and their GM is a Dominican. Who knows? He might feel more at home in that environment. That is the only reason I could come up with, and now with the Mets poised to challenge the Yankees for New York supremacy after over a decade and a half in the woods, the scrutiny on the Mets will be overwhelming. I think Manny doesn't know how lucky he is to be playing in Boston. I used to live in New York as a kid and I know the pressure the press applies there. *mwaha* *viking* *pimp* *no*
TheHugeUnit - February 9, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
Ya i was told first that manny wanted to go to the mets, then he wanted to go to the east coast, then he wanted to stay in boston then his wife said she would leave him if he didn't get traded to the west coast. This hole thing is a soap opera IMO
MrYankee - February 9, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
no he wont go to the mets...but in the next two years he will ask for a trade like 4 more times so there is going to be plenty more rumors he will go to the Mets *hehe*
mpic92 - February 9, 2006 02:28 AM (GMT)
Well you never know with Manny.... he'll probably change his mind every couple weeks and we're just gonna have to deal with it.
seabeachfred - February 9, 2006 05:14 AM (GMT)
Unit, look at it this way. No matter how you slice it the Mets this year will be a better team and will offer their first challenge to the Yankees in well over a decade. The subway series' should be one hell of an affair. I might even make the trip to New York to see a couple of the games. After all, while the Red Sox are now my first love the Mets are still my NL team, and the rivalry between the two this year ought to be more competitive than it has been in the past. The games ought to be real hoots. *yay* *yay* *yay* *yay* *yay*
seabeachfred - February 9, 2006 05:15 AM (GMT)
*hehe* *hehe* mpic, there is no doubt that Manny is one big pain in the ass, but as long as he's a Red Sox he's OUR pain in the ass. *hehe* *hehe* *hehe*

Don't count on it just yet. The Mets still have questions abounding in the starting rotation, and they may take out their best reliever last season, and make him a starter, where he's failed before. Carlos Delgado could go down with an elbow injury. It affected him last year, and it could very well come back again this year, ultimately resulting in Tommy John surgery. Beltran needs to prove that 2004 wasn't a fluke, and that he can recapture success. Jose Reyes needs to prove he can be a leadoff hitter, otherwise, the Mets have no leadoff hitter. Too many questions too annoint them a playoff contender right now, and definately not a threat to the Braves, and maybe even the Phillies.
mpic92 - February 12, 2006 06:15 AM (GMT)
Those are some very good points. I especially have to agree with the rotation. Aaron Heilmen who I believe you were referring to was a solid reliever for the Mets last season and is demanding that the Mets make him a starter. As you stated, he has struggled there in the past.
I think Delgado will be fine this year without any severe injury problems. Beltran can't do any worse than he did last season but he probably won't go back to being what he was in 2004 unless he is totally healthy and in good condition.
Iluvkm15 - February 12, 2006 09:26 AM (GMT)
THe reason I don't think they will get Manny is because the Red Sox don't have to trade him. The only way that they will trade him is if we benefit from the trade. In a way, right now the Red Sox hold all of the cards.

You absolitley right. The Red Sox have to trade him. Manny will probably change his mind a couple times a month but I think he's just going to stay with the Sox the whole season.
