three different men who could smile and take pride in the fact that they had helped model the swing that allowed the 22-year-old Braves catcher to enjoy his breakout season.
McCann's father, Howard, a former Division I collegiate coach who still owns and operates a hitting school in suburban Atlanta, provided the framework for his compact left-handed swing. During the past two seasons, a couple of former National League MVPs named
Terry Pendleton and
Chipper Jones have taken pride in cultivating that swing and improving the young catcher's approach at the plate.
