Title: LHSP Kei Igawa
Ranger_4 - November 6, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
LHSP--Hanshin Tigers: The Tigers have reportedly agreed to post Igawa, which will likely make him one of the top lefties available this off-season. The announcement is expected to come after he pitches in game four of the Japan series. He has hired American agent Arn Tellem to represent him. The Tigers were willing to make this move because they are confident they will be able to sign Hirochi Kuroda, a free agent. The Dodgers, Braves, Mariners, Tigers, Mets and Red Sox are among those interested. Igawa reportedly prefers to join a west coast team.

I hope the M's nab this guy after not going after Matsuzaka

The Seattle Times reports that the Mariners will not bid on Kei Igawa when he is posted by the Hanshin Tigers.
Instead, the newspaper reports that the team may go after free agent Tomo Ohka.

Unless they get Schmidt....

I think the Mariners are going to be aggressive after Jason Schmidt. Although I am surprised that they aren't going for Igawa since they really only have Washburn and King Felix penciled into the rotation for 07. There is at least 2 maybe 3 rotation spots up for grabs but if they were to add both Schmidt and Ohka that wouldn't be too bad.

The Tacoma News Tribune, says otherwise, we will see. If the M's don't nab this guy, and Schmidt will be the only good pick-up we get this off season.
