I have to right an article on the MLB Free Agency for my school newspaper, and being that I live in New Jersey, I figure it would be most acceptable to focus mainly on the Mets and Yankees.
That being said, what does it look like the Mets will do this offseason...this is coming from a "reporter" hoping to get some info for my article, and a diehard Mets fan.
I'll start off with my take on one prominant FA, and hopefully update this later with some other big names the Mets are looking at.
Carlos Lee: Carlos Lee would be a tremendous addition to the force. He can provide everything that we expected from Floyd, and then some. He's easily one of the best hitters in the MLB and would be welcomed on the Mets squad. He provides power, hitting for average, and getting runs (both knocking them in and scoring them himself) and boy, wouldn't he be nasty bewteen Delgado and Beltran? However, look for teams such as the Cubs and Dodgers to make HUGE plays for him, and do the Mets really need another Right handed batter?
Sorry Carlos Lee is going to Houston, its pretty obvious, also THEY NEED RIGHT HANDED BATTERS. We have a lot leftties except for the switch hitters who are better lefty. Go after Frank Cattalonatto he's a 300 hitter, five homeruns 50 rbs, sounds good to me if we get a pretty good second basemen.
