Title: Willie Fired?
TheHugeUnit - October 20, 2006 01:46 PM (GMT)
Well we all know Joe and his topics, but I figured since willie went brain dead in the last game why not make him a thread?
Wow pinch hitting Flyod wtf should of had herandez or someone who can bunt to get your runners over. Its not always about winning the game with one swing.
Heilman in 9th? Wow joe would get killed if he didn't use mo. Are you paying wanger 50 million to do his job? I wonder if billy gave willie a few franklins to not use him so he wouldn't be the laughing stock of the Mets.
The look on lil' willie's face was priceless. 2 runners on 1st and 2nd with no out and he looked like well its over at least i can go play golf with joe.

There is no way willie is going to get fired. The only real move he messed up in was the bunt. Wagner isnt Mo, he has been shaky all series and gave up two runs the night before. If here were to bring in wagner and he would have blown it he would have been killed. I think he has done an excellent job managing all year and even in the playoffs. Stop comparing the yankees to the mets two extremely different situations.

This thread is pointless, we all know willie isn't getting fired, there are no rumors about him being fired. Torre was different because there were rumors all over.

Do the math. 210 million. 1 playoff win. A mess of a rotation. A collection of overpaid, overrated, mercenaries that showed absolutely no heart. Forget history. Forget AL and NL. I'd rather be in the Mets shoes right now. The Yankees are heading downhill and heading fast. And money won't solve the problems becuase the payroll continues to explode.
And just you wait until Mariano retires.

Besides the bunt how did willie mess up?? Theres no gaurantee even after that, he went with his gut instinct and it didnt work out. I think he managed this team really well through out the playoffs. He has really helped reyes and wright develope, 97 wins, with in one win of the world series, i would say that is a pretty good season im very happy with it.

Well we have a few bucks coming off the books and we have awesome talent in single-A and double-A. Our problem is no one is in Triple-A. After the 2007 seaosn we have 60 million coming off with Hughes replacing Johnson. We have Clippard, Kennedy, and Garcia. The phenon Dellin should be ready to come up in 5 years. The wya I figure it Mo has 2 more years, I tihnk thats when Street is a free agent, maybe we could get him. Talk about Starting Pitching though yours is in worst shape then ours. When Wright is your worst pitcher thats aint to bad.

Mets play in the NL, where the competition is wack. There are a total of 2 teams in the NL that finished over .500 that didnt make the playoffs. (Phillies, Astros) In the AL East alone, there are 2 teams over .500 that didnt make the playoffs. (Bluejays and Sox) Competition in the AL is way better, we lost in the first round but losing in the first round in the AL is pretty much like losing in the NLCS in the NL.
Why are you talking about our rotation? Your ace pedro is out til the all star break buddy. El Duque was supposed to start game 1 but got hurt for the whole Postseason. Steve Trachsel... WHO???
Youd rather be in the Mets shoes because you are a Mets fan...

Well how about no Wagner in the 9th. How about sitting in the dugout in the bottom of the 9th with 2 on and no out and the wearing the face of its over. How about in Game 5 he didn't pinch hit for Oliver.

Royals could have a chance in the NL, think im crazy? Well they do have a pretty good team that swept the Red Sox.

They probably could, in June-July they were 10-5 vs. the NL. Let me add that they beat the Cardinals in a series 2-1

Why the hell would Willie Randolph get fired?
detroittigerfan28 - October 21, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
are you kidding me? this shouldnt even be being discussed right now. willie randolph is one of the best managers in the MLB today. firing him would be the dumbest move.

What?? You have nothing coming off the books. Zero. Tell me whats coming off the books. It's a mess.
And single A and Double A are a least 2 or 3 years away at best and baseball is full of prospects that have come and failed.
Johnson is under contract next year. He ain't going anywhere. And once you trade A-Rod, you'll still br paying half his salary.
Our starting pitching is worse than yours? That is a joke. Johnson, Pavano, Wright, Mussina are all still under contract. And all of them are a mess. Maybe not Moose, but he's fading fast.
And Wright is terrible. Pavano has shown he can't win in NY. You've got a 43 year old Johnson coming off back surgery. Mussina is mediocre, but fading.

Mets done a whole lot better than the yankees did.I bet a lot of new yorkers rather watch the mets now than the yankees.Cause they play exiting baseball and the ticket prices are cheaper than yankees tickets are.

Why would you put wagner in in the ninth inning? Its not the al the pitchers spot was up third in the bottom of the ninth. So bring your closer in for one inning in a tied game 7?? If the mets were to actually get the lead who would have closed the game?? Willie would have been KILLED if he broguht wagner and he blew it. Wagner was shaky all series long and he has said publicly he doesnt like pitching unless theres a save situation. Well im sure his face in the ninth inning really impacted the game  It was a crushing blow to see that homer im sure he wa sa little dissappointed but they came back out and loaded the bases but it didnt work out. In game five what are you talking about olliver??? There was no olliver playing in game 5. Willie managed great all year, yeah he made some mistakes but is their anyone alive who doesnt??? This is the most pointless argument ever..

No way Randolph should be fired. That is ridiculous.
