SAN DIEGO -- Mark Bellhorn and Scott Williamson once again are on the move.

The San Diego Padres released the well-traveled Bellhorn and Williamson on Thursday.

A 32-year-old infielder, Bellhorn batted .190 with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 115 games this season for the Padres, his sixth team.

A playoff hero with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, Bellhorn had signed with San Diego as a free agent last December after splitting the 2005 campaign with the Red Sox and New York Yankees.

Williamson, 30, went 2-4 with a 5.72 earned-run average in 42 combined relief appearances for the Chicago Cubs and Padres this season, going 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA in 11 games with San Diego after being acquired on July 22.

Williamson is 27-28 with 55 saves and a 3.32 ERA in 328 games -- 10 starts -- with four teams.

The Padres also waived infielder Manny Alexander and claimed pitcher Justin Hampson off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.

Just like we miss Bellhorn a.k.a king of strike outs here in Boston, right? :P

Does anyone remember a few years ago when Williamson was on the Reds and he was really, really good? He then got traded to Boston, and his career seems to have fallen apart since then. He used to be one of the better non-closer relievers in the game... I can't say I saw him getting this bad where he would be released.
