Title: Girls in the Major Leagues?
TheHugeUnit - January 13, 2006 12:08 AM (GMT)
I put this up after hearing that Jeanie Finch wanted to play for the Mets. She could possiably get 25 wins her first season she can strike-out some of the best hitters in baseball
braveschopbraves - January 13, 2006 12:10 AM (GMT)
Link for this???
But I wouldn't mind
Braves could take her *yay*
BlueJays1 - January 13, 2006 12:12 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't mind but when she struck them out she was about 25 feet closer
If a girl could make it then great but I doubt they could (no offence ladies)

They should get their own league then, all sports are seperate my gnder. Not to sound sexist but science have proved that women are generally physically weaker than men.

Her other choice was the Red Soxs does that change your mind?

She would have one freaky delievery.
I tried hitting off a girl that was on the soft ball team, its almost impossible. The underhand windup really throws off your concentration. You kinda don't expect them to keep revolving the arm, and when they release it, you are surprised, and because you are closer, you don't have enough time to react. You basically have no time to see if its a strike or not before swinging, so you just swing away. Safe to say, I stuck out most of the time...except for the times the ball found the bat, lol.
Its really hard to adjust to that type of pitching. But when she moved back to 60 feet, it was easier, atleast seeing the ball. You have more time to recover from the surprise when she releases the ball. If I was a MLB team, and the rules allowed it, I would have given her a tryout atleast.
Maybe she is horrible in MLB, but atleast it would be better to see her implode than say see Felix Heredia or Mike Stanton implode, :)

When i was in 7th and 8th grade we had a class baseball game and the girls pitcher like they do and i got a homer every time maybe since they where only 13 and 14. In the majors they can't throw since the mound is like 15 inches in the air that would throw them off and it wouldn't be fair for them to come closer so i don't see them playing i just put this here to see what people thought

If she wears a thong and a bra the entire game then sure, but otherwise no.

Hell yes, Finch is a babe. I'm sure she could strike some guys out to. They might be too distracted looking at her.
sidthekid87 - January 13, 2006 07:19 AM (GMT)
sure..she could make a cpl strike out..Wickenheiser didnt make it to the NHL..yes she was in Europe...maybe Finch could make a triple A or dbl A team first..no offence but she would get manhandled
DroppinTheDuece - January 13, 2006 07:40 AM (GMT)
Would she have to pitch regular or softball style?
sidthekid87 - January 13, 2006 07:55 AM (GMT)
she can windmill it i believe but has to be same difference and ball and rules..so she cant skip into it like in her baseball...
JzZt - January 13, 2006 03:00 PM (GMT)
Sure but they wouldnt make it.
americanpride - January 13, 2006 06:09 PM (GMT)

Heck Yes, man! *duff*
Carlfan - January 13, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
If they can play then let them.
They would have to go through a lot of training and ridicule though
Yankeesin06 - January 13, 2006 11:01 PM (GMT)
I accidentally read the question wrong, I thought it said would you want Jennie Finch to pitch in the majors or any girl, so I accidentally clicked yes. But I meant to click no, that I wouldn't mind. So if you guys could just minus 1 from the yes and add 1 to the no then it will be right. Sorry!
soxfan#1 - January 14, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
Yes let them in. Someone needs to shake some pom poms.

That's alright... And unfortunately, we can't change the poll total *idunno*
whereisnomar - January 14, 2006 12:22 AM (GMT)
Say Jennie Finch made it to the Mets, or whoever, would she pitch underhand or overhand?

Don't mess with the feed of a winning horse.
Unless there's some rule against it, she probably would.

Ya other pitchers pitch sub style. But can she pitch like that on a mound and pitch that far away
NateFizzle - January 14, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
If a woman is good enough to play in the majors then let her. But its not likely a woman would be talented enough. And I don't want to see a woman play just for PR purposes.
